Orange Knight
The whole thing leaked, so they had to drop it early. Time to have a little look:. Edit: Ok, some early impressions... Very happy that the Redemptor Dreadnought got a price drop. He was way too expensive. Blood Angel Sanguinary Guard - wow! What a boost to their profile. Could be too cheap now despite their small bump in cost. The Lion is a lot better, but did he really need a boost? His rules feel more in line with Guilliman. I like what I see with the Mechanicus, and Cawl especially. But seriously I'd just prefer a new codex at this point. The profiles and general rules have been changed so significantly from what is printed... Giving Ironstriders double the A and twinlinked is certainly a choice, although I guess the Onager phosphor blaster was already turned into double shots with twinlinked. Urkh
3 hours ago, AvePicante said: What actually changed? I never played it before, but I have the original printed at home somewhere The detachment rule changed from rr1s to hit to rr1s to wound vs the closest target/melee. And we still get +1 ap to hearthguard and any unit with a khal+uthar attached. Old rapid fire strat now gives +1 STR, and if you spend a yp, sus 1, and no longer excludes blast weapons. Bastion shield enhancement (AoC for the unit) can spend a yp to increase its range to 18" (from 12") and can be put on any character. Warriors and hearthguard with khals are now amazing. Steeljacks with the bastion shield on a memnyr are an anchor. It may not seem like a lot, but the old version was just extremely anti synergistic with the new rules, and now the detachment makes sense, and can put out the numbers. The Sanguinary Guard was a terrible change because part of the reason to use Dante with them was the +1 to hit. -1 to hit in melee basically never comes up. Until this change they were basically just 1 wound less Vanguard Vets (Across an entire squad (9 wounds SG squad v 10 wound VV Squad) with better weapons/offensive profiles, and now they are... still basically that, just moreso, for a little more. Feels like a net even change, if not an outright buff due to not needing to be lead by Dante to get their full offensive power unlocked. T4 is a pretty easy toughness to have stronger, and also pretty easy to have double, so getting +2 to wound on them is relatively easy with the current way the game is played, that's all the T4 comment was meant to imply. It's a 'problem'/'feature' of Space Marines in this edition. I think the price is fair is all. Not saying they're great or bad, time will tell with that (They're already kinda good as far as BA specific units go, and now you can forego the captain tax and still hit like a truck, so I expect them to continue to be good as long as Space Marines are playable). chapter master 454
Imperial Knights eating a nerf day negative 1. Suppose Valourstrike was putting the fear in everyone and personally as a knight lover: GOOD. I am happy the detachment everyone that everyone was riding the drive shaft of got pulled in a little because I consider it the most boring detachment. It was also kind of silly though...you have knights going possible 18" without any advancing (lancer) and then having an average charge of 8" meaning their reach out of the gate was 26" and if you were playing quarter deployments...that lancer was your amazon prime delivery driver dropping off your back-line's corpse to your front line, same day no extra cost. Just means people might actually shop around now. I also still think the defender is overcosted personally, it is one of those rules that requires your opponent to play into it and just needs so many things to go right...like...maybe it shields a crusader turn 1 or something...but that means you left 2 knights out in the open, visible and ready to get squared up on by anti-tank. If you want ranged firepower, there is a castellan right there for 15 points less, and you have a volcano lance that actually anti-tanks with ignores cover support quite well, and the shieldbreakers help in the mirror against other titanics...like say...defenders...oh hey nice 4++, would be a shame if I had devvy and anti-titanic 4+ on tap. (oh and hold these lance shots...and do NOT drop the soap or you will lose best part of 12 damage per lance you wanted to face-tank) Some notes: world eaters are EATING GOOD. Exalted 8bound now actually rip tanks apart with their new rule (+1damage against monsters and vehicles) so they do their job and come in at a critical time when GSC get slapped down hard when knights are on the rise (GSC being the big counter to knight imo), those exalted are terrifying for knights with AP3, 3 damage a pop melee with anti-3+...they kind of just go to town (oh and they got a big points drop). Tau riptides also finally getting their ion accel up to where it should of been...it now can take on armoured targets a lot better now with the ability to hit strength 10 now, and even possibly 11 via various detachments. Big win there (and broadsides going down in points too) My heart flutters however...I see my sweethearts...my land raiders go down in points...oh...be still...my beautiful babies...we may need to give you a spin round the block again...for old times. I love my armour...and I LOVE my land raiders. And speaking of HEAVY armour...baneblade chassis down across the board too? Leontus on discount as well? Oh I can't help myself...got myself Knights and Raiders and Baneblades oh my. By the tread of Tank or Knight, I'mma have a field day with this!
