New Calgar, Sicarius, and Victrix Guard miniatures

That said, GW is leaking like a faucet right now.

It seems far more generic and bland than either of the 2 previous miniatures of him, there's a lot less detail and its more in-line with what i'd expect from a typical non-named character.

 

Something about what it does have comes across as odd too. The decorative ribbon example that goes through the chest armour as if it thinks its wiring, how several decorative elements are for some reason ontop of each other. It seems very similar in posing with the legs to the 10th edition terminator captain from the launch box.

Same way he always has I guess, since it's been a feature of his loadout since the 2nd Edition mini. The Gravis one was the only version not to feature it.

If it's a fake it's a pretty good one. If this is the real thing then I'd have to say I probably prefer the Gravis version, even as a huge fan of Terminator armour, this one just doesn't do it for me. Not that I was likely to buy either of them anyway.

The older Terminators had that notch too. I don't know what it is or why it's there, I had hoped they'd have got rid of it when updating the Terminators but it stuck around for some reason.

I wanna say parts of it looks off, but then there's enough parts that don't and are clearly not just copy pasted existing parts either, so I guess it has to be real?

So in the story he almost dies again, and goes.. quick put me back in terminator army.. gravis isnt working out for me ?.. maybe it'd be time to check out Dreadnoughtisation for him then.

 

If real I think its an special edition/anniversary miniature, I doubt they will roll back that fluff ? ... though its weird that that coincides with the initial sold out online and now removal of the calgar in gravis suit. It could be they just release the gravis calgar and the victrix guard seperate ( their sprues are split ), so people can buy the latter seperately to go with the special edition.. but taking consideration of special release miniatures isnt really something they do.

If that's real (and if it isn't, it's one of the best fakes I've ever seen) colour me impressed. That looks absolutely fantastic. I can't even get mad about the tactical rock as the (awesome) original has one!

Only critiques are I wish it had all the features the original had, notably the tassled Ultramarine insignia tilt shield, the wing on the left shoulder and more of the relics on the loincloth, but objectively speaking it's a superb update. Also, if they haven't already they need to make a new version of that old honour guard standard bearer, complete with the "OUR PRESENCE REMAKES THE PAST" banner. I have that model somewhere, need to paint him.

There's a lot that's in common with the Terminator armour one (which he's in, rather than the Space Marine 2 Power/Gravis? armour)

 

The eagle crest, the way the chest braids go across.

Just significantly less oversized bling.

Also an admission the previous Gravis armour mixup one had terrible looking armour and the 2005 terminator look is superior.

Looks real enough to me. Lore wise, imagine if this was GW saying they're opening the vaults to give characters models from across 40k history. That way players could do campaigns set in different eras of 40k instead of just current a bit easier.

I'd have preferred Telion or even Cassius, but it looks alright. I did always like his 4th edition model.

Problem I have, is he neither looks like the newer joytoy or space marine 2 version, and whilst he might just be updated even beyond them, it seems odd

In the deepest depths of my hopium, I hope Calgar comes solo like Dante, Azrael, Shann, etc, and then the Victrix Guard gets redone into a new version of the old Honor Guard models since the Ultramarines don't have specific unit kits anymore. I would love for them to bring the UMs in line with the Dark Angels, Blood Angels and Black Templars in terms of releases. Give me those (the Honor Guard) and new Tyrannic War Veterans and I'll be happy. And a new upgrade sprue that doesn't make me sad like the current one does

 

I know some might not like another Calgar, and I would echo what @Lord Marshal said that I would've preferred Telion or Sicarius (or Cassius since he only had a model in the Deathwatch Kit and they discontinued that) but since Calgar was the first Primaris back when it felt like they were still trying to figure things out (to the point where the Victrix Guard are noticeably smaller than Intercessors), I'm glad he's getting an update

That is a lot of writing for; Marneus Calgar, Chapter Master of the Ultramarines has more than one suit in his armoury.

 

Now I kind of want Calgar in Phobos and Tacticus as well, just for the fun of it.

Wasnt he already ? This would be the 5th ( not counting Joytoy )

Most 40k characters only had 2 ( even spacemarines ) and the only ones to compete with his position would be those that are both present in 30k and 40k, but I think even for those the max is 3 currently.

 

But if we really count everything he would be third place :

1st the White Dwarf ( Grombidal I think ? ).. too many to count
2nd the Red Gobbo has I think 6 now. ( the original and 5 christmas ones )

The gravis one was awful on release and time hasn't been kind at all. This is much better.

 

Still doesn't look as good as the original terminator one at present but maybe with the head.
