I just don't see the point on releasing a new Calgar model when the Gravis one was perfectly okay, specially when other characters are still in need of new models like Sicarius or Pedro

Well there we go! Those Honor Guard actually look pretty alright, very fond of the standard bearer (of course) and the company champion. Sicarius looks quite nice too, actually; relatively restrained pose, decent level of detail without going overboard...

 

Holy moly, I actually like these. The tactical rocks are as always unnecessary, but the actual models are honestly good. Like, "I'd be tempted to buy some just to paint" good.

Question I'm having, is the current model being retired? Broken mold? Or are they intending for him to have 2 versions, like he's had for a bajillion editions.

Man they're really turning back on some of the primaris stuff. Calgar back in terminator armour the honour guard wielding more old style bolters. Can't say I hate it.

 

I also think Sicarus is one of the best marine models they've done. Completely in style for Ultras, good pose, great armour details.

Wow. I don't care for the new Calgar but Siciarius  and all his buddies look amazing. These models are fantastic, love the eagle faced helmets and the banner is gorgeous. Surprised GW hit us with all of it, a follow up article for Calgar wouldn't have been a surprise but they could have kept the rest of this back. Part of me would like to grumble about more Marine coming out when other factions aren't so well supported but good looking models are good looking models.

I do find it kind of funny they're remaking the Victrix Guard and not the Tyrannic War Veterans considering... you know, Fourth Tyrannic War and all that. It would have been a cute capstone to end the edition on.

 

It's a shame if the shielded chaps are going away, I have a big fondness for models lugging them around and I liked the 'symmetry' of the previous pair. That being said, the new guys look pretty good.

 

Siciarius looks pretty nice. The only difference in the head sculpts being whether he's yelling or not is pretty amusing.

 

Calgar's face is... very unfortunate. Could use that jaw as a grindstone.

regarding the level of marine support versus other factions, we are in a much better place than we were a decade ago. multiple guard updates, a substantial sisters range, eldar updates, and cool one-offs like Navy Breachers, I have complaints with current 40k trends, but the amount of non-marine support isnt one of them,

Imo I wouldn't mind the moving tyrannic war veterans to be either a shared thing amongst all chapters or a Deathwatch thing.
