** The datasheet might seem like you can take just a single Victrix Honour Guard model at minimum, but the unit’s points start at a three-model squad. Come on, he’d get lonely.

Full rules downloads for Marneus Calgar, Cato Sicarius, and the Victrix Honour Guard – along with their points – will be available in the next Warhammer 40,000 downloads drop, which will be just after the World Championships of Warhammer taking place from the 6th to the 9th of November. They’ll also be added to the Warhammer 40,000 app at that time, alongside a minor rules update for the Captain with Jump Pack that makes their chainsword-and-storm shield option Matched Play-legal.***

They're good! They're beautiful and they're good! Calgar + Cato + 6 Honour guard is going to be a fun deathstar to run around, and I'm definitely going to be getting a nice unit of 6 and Cato on pre-order. Nice to confirm we can use both variants of Calgar too, means my lovely painted one isn't going anywhere.

It is a shame that the Chapter Champion has lost so much flavour. It would have been nice if they had kept his +1 to charge and his different strike options. The victrix guard do look cool, but I wish they still had their shields.

Still all the models look great and the rules look solid, guess victrix guard mean UM now have Khorne Beserkers

I suppose Calagar will largely depend on how great the terminators are (hopefully they get some rule changes).

Their rules are pretty spectacular.

I'm getting more and more tempted to start conversion of my 30k Ultramarines into 40k Ultramarines... I already have a lot of vehicles and infantry, just a shame that so much of it is in the legends category...

Very interesting: If i read that right you can definitely take Gravis Calgar, his two butt-buddy victrix, Cato, and six fully stacked victrix in one big 10-man blob of veterancy goodness.

Though that won't stop me from getting my mitts on the new calgar.

That's how I see it.

Gravis Calgar, Champion, Banner, Cato, and 6 extra Victrix Guard.

Very expensive but very powerful.

interesting that they got 4 wounds a piece unlike the other chapters unique bodygaurd units. It makes sense as company heroes have 4, but makes the fact the others didnt get 4 all the more strange.

Fancy rules though, the seem flat out superior to most armies elite 3 man unit honestly, hitting on 2s for both melee and range, all damage 2, more attacks than most, AP on everything, built in advanced special characters, built in -1 to wound them for BOTH ranged and melee. Kind of crazy honestly

There’s something funny about Cato plus 6 Victrix Guard in an Impulsor, with the banner hanging out of the top.

See, that’s why the Impulsor is superior to the Rhino; you can hang heraldry out of the top much easier.

As an UM player, these rules please me.

I have a Blue Spartan Assault Tank that would be pretty fun to use in 40k.

That banner the Victrix come with is oddly powerful, meaning it would be a mistake not to include it in a unit, which I find somewhat irksome as it makes the model difficult to transport lol.

Wow! What kind of UM fanboy wrote those rules? That's quite bonkers if you ask me. Let's see what the points will be.

Victrix looks strong and is there any other model beside Cato which comes with three attack profiles to choose?

Yeah the Blade Champion of the Custodes has been doing that for a year and a half now.

So does Cato Sicarius have another unit somewhere (besides the one this is replacing) or is the section about not getting multiple Catos there by mistake?

Might be there so they don't have to errata his existing datasheet out of the codex.

Even if the existing variant goes away in 11th, I would be happy to continue using the Gravis model. He is still pretty current and since you can only ever have one Calgar, it is not like he is going to confuse anyone.

It looks like he can join almost any unit in the Codex. If you want to keep things cheap, you can now buy him without the "tax" of 2 Victrix so that you can keep farming those CPs.

Good point. Sanguinary Guard only get 3 Wounds but they do get a 4++ and Jump Packs which I feel is a pretty decent trade.

Inner Circle Companions look a bit anaemic now in comparison but do have the advantage that they can accompany pretty much any Character, not just a Captain/CM.

Cost is going to be a factor here. I expect these guys will be priced somewhere between the Sanguinary Guard and the Inner Circle Companions.

The Sanguinary Guard also carry a -1 to hit AND -1 to wound penalty for opposing units, even though it's only in melee.

Fair, however tracks > grav plates!

...An open-backed Rhino would be cool though.

Grav Plates are faster and they go over water, so they win in-universe.

I always feel that Marines should be using the rare, high-tech stuff. Easy and cheap is for the Guard.

Sure, but tracks are cooler. Also simpler to repair and less likely to cause a catastrophic accident in the event of failure. A krak missile causing a thrown track is bad but the Rhino will just come to a stop, as it's already on the ground. Said same krak missile crippling one or more grav plates is going to either render the Impulsor uncontrollable or cause the entire thing to hit the ground at high speed, either of which is very bad news.

I'd wager ICC are the most capable in melee since they have two profiles going on, along with a bonus to hit against Characters. Defensively, without Azrael or Librarians, I agree they're anemic.

Pretty powerful rules for the Smurfs. Is Matt Ward back? Weird how adding some gaudy gold trims on your armour improves your armour save.

The reflections blind the opponent. Should be a -1 to Hit.
