Interesting that he's a regular range item. Guess that means the current one will be going away? He's not even three years old, right? Funny they should drop that when people were discussing how young Primaris Calgar's model was.

I bet he'll stay. The existing one has the power fist...

Yeah I don't see them dropping the existing captain, this is probably just the one intended to pair up with vanguard vets in nine months

Data sheet already allows this loadout besides

is he a regular range item? I didn't get that impression. its an event exclusive for warhammer day, it can be pre ordered but is still part of the "commemorative series"

The captain comes with a choice of heads and an alternate chainsword build, if thunder hammers aren’t your thing. Note that this miniature is not limited to Warhammer Day – he will join the standard Space Marine range.

Power weapon too and no shield.

It's funny, having two different captain models with slightly different load outs with a focus on thunder hammers and storm shield is something that's been on my mind lately. I'm sure we all indulge in day dream of "if I was in charge this is how I would do it" and in my head I'd split Captains into "Has Storm Shield but can't take thunder hammer" and "Has Thunder Hammer but can't take storm shield. Just because I think outside of Terminators all thunder hammers should be two handed affairs like Deathwatch have and so a Marine wielding one should be able to also carry a shield, but it's not some super staunch belief or anything.

Yeah, not only the Power Fist, but there's no mention of even a Power Sword for this guy, along with the pistol options the existing Captain has. So there's definitely plenty of justification for keeping them both around.

The fact that the Jump Captain retained Storm Shield and Thunder Hammer as options in the codex despite not having a model and this guy becoming a line item makes me think he's 'filling in' as an event model especially as he doesn't get a fancy name like the Chaos chap.

We're presumably getting a preview show on the day, with this guy looking like he'll fit in with a squad of Vanguard Vets what are the chances we'll see them there?

Very Solid, standard complaints about primaris Jump packs and leg nozzles aside, I love getting more options, and the bare head isn't bad (the helmet is boring as hell, but I never use the helmets my captains come with anyway.)

Definitely hopeful for the vanvets

Very glad he's a range item so I don't have to scramble to get all the copies I need for my various armies/the kitbash pile on the day. I do wonder if he is coming alone or if we'll be getting some other marine releases on Warhammer Day?

All praise the glorious return of smash captain! and now that we have an actual model he should be here to stay! (at least for a couple of editions...)

After I'd gone to the trouble of adding an iron halo to the old one, they release one that comes with one? But yeah, even though I have like a dozen marshals at this point, alternate pose and armaments for a jumpy one wouldn't go amiss.

He actually has the new Assault Terminator shield, cool.

Oh you.

My Jump-focused White Scars list will enjoy this guy.

Hopefully this also puts to bed the idea that Primaris VanVets would be Phobos...

Maybe we'll see them in a preview soon then?

The details and weapon options are cool, shame the pose is a bit off. Seems like he wants to gently tap something with that hammer, or maybe he's offering to give it away.

I think it's because the wrong leg is forward for a power stroke, and they're little skipping legs instead of doing something decisive.

Love that shield shape, bling and gubbins on him, be great to see some more of them on new assault Termies.
