Subtleknife
Now that we’ve had a proper look at Calgar, Sicarius, and the Victrix Guard, what do you think their new rules might be? I imagine Calgar will remain largely the same, though he’ll likely gain deep strike along with any other benefits that come with being in terminator armour. Sicarius, on the other hand, may change a fair bit. He’s no longer the Captain of the Second Company, but the commander of the Victrix Guard. I’d expect his main role to be leading and buffing them. Perhaps his ability will echo the old Company Champion, where you could choose a blade stance at the start of each Fight phase. The difference could be that instead of affecting him, it would extend to any Victrix Guard under his command, representing his leadership in battle. His sword I think might also receive a small upgrade, maybe a strike and sweep profile but nothing too over the top. For the Victrix Guard themselves, I’d expect a fairly standard statline for elite Space Marines. It would be great if they could swap their bolters for shields to gain an invulnerable save. The axes imo might look something like: 4 attacks, Strength 5, hitting on 2s, AP-2, Damage 2. Master-crafted bolters could be 2 shots, Strength 4, AP-1, Damage 2. As for special rules, they’ll probably lean defensive. Something like ignoring the first point of AP while attached to a Chapter Master or Captain. The Ancient will likely follow the pattern of other Ancients, though it would be brilliant imo if they revived the old Standard of Macragge Inviolate rule from the supplement, which gave +1 Attack and automatically passed Morale checks. Finally, the Chapter Champion will probably come with plenty of precision attacks and a relic-grade power weapon profile. I’d expect his abilities to remain similar to before: +1 to advance and charge rolls, and perhaps some kind of re-rolls to wound or hit when targeting characters. What do you all think the new rules could be? Malakithe
The Victrix will likely be a parallel Bladeguard. Maybe a bodyguard rule of some kind but not seeing a way to give them invul. Subtleknife
Only way they get an invun imo is if there bolter can be switched out for a shield in the kit. I do hope GW can make them distinct from BG. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/386702-new-rules-for-new-models/#findComment-6132802 Share on other sites
Tacitus
Did Marneus Calgar become a Primaris Lieutenant? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/386702-new-rules-for-new-models/#findComment-6132821 Share on other sites
Tacitus
Does anyone know why they're making a new Marneus (other than to sell models, and synergize him with the new Terminator bodies that I assume will be finished with assault Terminators when he releases) Additionally do we think there will be two datasheets 1) current and 2) Terminator Marneus and you can pick one but not both, or will this remove the current sheet? Karhedron
I think that they will have 2 datasheets. The new box art lists him as Marneus Calgar in the armour of Heracles (or whatever it's called). The only reason for listing the armour I can think of is to distinguish it from the current model and datasheet. Purely speculation on my part of course. Blindhamster
Yeah I agree. I think he will have two profiles, one with terminator and one with gravis baseline, interested to see how his actual rules might differ, if at all. I doubt Cato will get strike & sweep, I actually don’t think his rules will change dramatically. Victrix guard seem like they’ll have axes and bolters base now, interested to see if they’ll retain the option for sword and shield or not. Also interested to see how the champion and ancient will work! Subtleknife
Yeah, I tend to agree re the two armour options. Whilst I do like having the option, I do feel a bit sorry for the other firstborn without one. Hopefully, we wont have too long to wait for when these go on sale. Tacitus
I don't expect options on his entourage outside of MAYBE being able to take either entourage with either armor type i.e. Gravis Marneus or Antilochus Marneus can have EITHER 2 Sword and Board Victrix or the 1+ Axe of Ultramar OG HGs with options for Chapter Ancient and Chapter Champion. I think its more likely you get the entourage that comes in the box for THAT version but MAYBE they open it up. The whiplash from making the OG Honor Guard, then splitting it off, then squatting it just to now bring it back again is leaving me a little miffy though. Edit to Add: Also for anyone who may have missed it (I may have as I don't know WHEN they did it) Marneus no longer gives you 1CP per turn unless he's also your Warlord.
