Neat! Neither of these ones are of particular interest to me right now but it's cool to seem them putting together more boxes like this, I don't really care for the Combat Patrol game and generally just view these as a way to get some units at a discount so hopefully they'll come out with something for faction I'm really into.

So my inner optimist says this is GW finding ways to get us some lower prices, more discount boxes.

My inner dreamer assumes that combat patrol might actually be a worthwhile game on its own in 11th.

The Krieg one seems great. Someone wanting to start a Krieg Army would be well on theor way with 2-4 of those boxes. Besides maybe the Commisar, all of those units are good to have a lot of in most Guard/Krieg armies.

The commissar is part of the Krieg command squad, rather than a separate unit, so if they're going to run multiple command squads they'd still use them!

That being said I'm not entirely sure you'd want to run THAT many command squads even at 2000 points. Between Lord Solar, the command squad he's attached to, and a few other ad-hoc Orders givers I tend to get by ok.

It's about a $40 savings in US, which basically makes one unit free (The command squad), which is about the going rate for most of the CP boxes.

They vary a lot. For instance, the current Astra Militarum one is: 35 + 55 + 51.25 + 51.25 = 192.5€. That's a 32.47% discount.

And in the US that's 65 + 62.50 + 62.50 + 45 = 235. or a $55 savings.  So not even a full unit of any faction difference.  Pretty similar.

This new Combat Patrol is also a lot better of a box, just in general, so even though it may be SLIGHTLY worse savings, it's a more efficient savings for building the army and getting a functioning force.

There's very little reason to buy 2 of the current Combat Patrol, because the Cadian Command Squads are quite literally useless without Cadians to lead, so it requires another purchase right off the rip that's not really considered in either of our maths.  You basically break even on purchasing the current box because of that extra purchase.

Whereas this new box is self contained in every way; you can have two 10 man's lead by a Command Squad; inefficient, sure, but way better than a naked command squad, and two units of HWT's, and either 2 units of Death Riders or one mega unit.  And it's a fine pick-up if you got the Krieg starter box; an extra 5 man of rough riders is mostly meh in current datasheet, but that can change and also every other unit in the new Patrol wasn't in that release box, so it will help flesh out those armies as well.

A way better box.  Still a savings over buying retail so still a good deal.

Using the € content prices thats 13% less value in the box, thats a lot. Thats like three of their semi annual 4-5% price increases.

And the Harlequins CP isn't much better with 172,5€ of contents for 24,64% of discount.

I wonder if all future CP will have less discount as a indirect price increase on this front too

Harlequin box pairs nicely with the Death Masque harlequins which I've definitely not had lying around for the best part of a decade

I'm in a similar spot - does anyone know how well the Harlequin sprues have aged? are they line heavy flash monstrosities or still decent?
