Hi everybody! It's been like over a decade since i was a frequent poster here. Glad to find out my account was still around. Thanks for not deleting it! So, short story,  i kind of had fallout with everything Games Workshop and got into other games like Infinity and above all a game called Bushido by GCT Studios.

Anyway, one of my sons, whom now have turned 13, wanted to give miniature gaming a go and had his sights set on 40k. So i guess i'm back!

We decided kill team is a proper size to start with. He opted for the Space Marines and left me with the Plague Marines... I'm shooting for a sort of rusty and worn look. Was really fun painting this guy.

The one posted here is done, but i have 6 guys left to paint... And i also bought a box of ork kommandos + i have such an itch to get a kill team of Desert Eagles, so i will probably end up buying a team of space marines for myself too. I figurered the wip section makes sense, otherwise a moderator can move this thread to the kill team section.

My son is doing Imperial fists and i also got him the new raveners box btw.

I really like the new scale even if it means all my old minis are junk now. For fun i attached some of my Desert Eagles that i had collecting dust in a box. Maybe a blast from the past for someone with good memory.

Hope you like them. Cheers! /Martin

Jealous of your Dreadnoughts. Absolutely beautiful stuff. Both paint schemes are great. I love seeing White Ceramite and the classic style Plague Marine colours.

What bits did you use for the backpack antenna on the Marine next to the standard bearer? How did you pull off that white scheme?

Thanks mate! I have no idea really to be honest. I painted the white guys like 12-15-ish years ago. Just put them in there as a nod to the past when i last hung around here at the bolter&chainsword.

Started with second marine. Doing him a bit darker, and i like it so will go forward with the rest the same way. Lots of stuff yet to be painted, metallics just got a base coat and so on. Having the head glued proved challenging. For the most part i couldn't tell what  most stuff on his head was supposed to be either

Some sort of pus i guess...

Thanks mate, I love Blanche! I think in general i have a sort of painterly style mixed with classic mini painting tricks like edge lighting etc.

Anyway...second marine finished. I painted his head more than once and ended up with this purple-ish version. I'm not in love with it, but guess it's good enough and more paint will start to clutter up details anyway.

Overall i'm happy with how he turned out.

Going to go back on the first guy and change his shoulder pads to match this one with this rust/metal trims.

Thanks for looking!

Sorry for the crappy pic, didn't bother to try and set up some proper light. I came to the conclusion that i didn't like the champion that came with the kill team starter, so went ahead and bought a box of Plague Marines. While i was at the store, i thought that the surgeon guy would make a great Plague caster as well. So, just some minor convertion and bit swaps, but this is much more to my liking 20251007_231544824.thumb.jpg.41d31fd62acf78eb03ab813cd5d962c4.jpg

Haha, so basically i've built a whole new team. Well, i had the parts, so why not. I think the icon bearer turned out quite cool  considering apart from the brass rod, everything was just spare bits in the Plague marine box.
