I have built three 30K rhinos for the Call to Arms event this year. Overall they were easier to put together than their predecessors but there is still room for improvement. For instance why aren´t there grooves for EVERY option in the vehicle kit? I am speaking about searchlight, hunter-killer missile, smoke launcher and bulldozer blade? There are only two hard points and that´s that. Not good enough for a kit which originated from the 80s. In comparison there is no ambiguity in putting vehicles together in Legions Imperialis. So GW can do it, if they wanted to.

Oppositely, I wish there weren't grooves on the 30K Rhino for the headlights. One of the things I did when I built my resin ones was not add the lights because I didn't like the placement, but the new plastic kits have that indent on the armor. An indent for the dozer blade or tow hooks isn't too bad, but I figure that has more to do with sprue design than anything.

Now that I've got that out of my system, perhaps it's because the original Rhino kit was supposed to be modular and you could attach things pretty much wherever you wanted? Now that we have lore for the Standard Template Constructs, you'd think equipment mounting would be more, y'know, standardised?

Having put together some models recently where the location of the pieces is very ambiguous, I miss having definite mounting pegs and grooves in models. I assembled that Warcry team with the weird bestial vampires and one of them had a damn crater I had to fill because the parts just did not want to fit together with any certainty, they just slid against each other. when I mention pegs, however, don't confuse that for GW's "push-fit models", which they seem to interpret as "squash the parts together with every ounce of your strength and pray you don't crush every detail on the model in the process-fit models"
