40k New Assault Terminators + Terminator Ancient + Crux Terminus Army Set

If I can get it I'll pick it up, if I can't I don't know when I'll get round to the individual purchases full price, as much as I like terminators I have no pressing game need for them. I will replace the shields though - at least with my spare ones from the old blood angels squad if not third party.

I've still got all 10 of my old BA lightning claws, maybe I'll keep the Firstborn squad as the TH+SS ones and just make a new squad of lighting claw guys.

There is almost certainly a farther-reaching range refresh on the horizon for the Drukhari, but off the back of this it definitely seems like that'll be relegated to an early 11th edition release rather than late 10th. 

Maybe we could get a glimpse of that refresh at LVO reveal show (if they are going ahead with that?)

No complaints here, seems like another perfectly scaled-up Termie squad. And my one worry of the shields seems to have been unfounded, they look fine, I think they're just bigger. (Well, obviously they're bigger, but I mean bigger than they would be if just scaled up from the last ones)

It's also worth mentioning that these were planned (seemingly) to be revealed now, the Ultramarines weren't, realistically they probably weren't scheduled to be shown until November/December based on the blurb at the end of the article saying that the next piece of it will be shown later this year

 

So I get that folks might be frustrated that its two big marine reveals in a row, but the first one isn't on GW, its on whoever leaked Calgar.

Glad they finally dropped these, and they look like I thought they would. My enhanced proxies are in no danger, and look equally as good 

 

Lightning Claws are an improvement over the legacy version. 

 

I'm disappointed in the Thunder Hammers though. They could have differentiated them from the standard TH, giving them better damage. The OG Terminator TH has a thick power cable that connected to the suit via the wrist power cable socket. This could explain the improved profile, and give us a reason to field them. 

 

Missed opportunity in my view.

I think it’s really impressive how dynamic/fluid they’ve managed to make the terminators look especially considering how they’re essentially tanks. Compared to the poses of old which were a bit more static these look phenomenal!

 

Will absolutely be after 10 of them simply because I can’t decide between the Thunder Hammers and Lightning Claws and will need to paint both!

There's not much that actually carries Thunder Hammers now.

I'm for Thunder Hammers hitting on 3+ once GW stops being cowards and finally gives Terminators BS/WS2+ by default.

I really like this set and it compliments the Deathwing Assault box. I dont really need another squad of tactical terminators but I am already wondering if I can just do an arm swap with the, I assume, extra sets of thunderhammers/lightning claws from the two assault squads.

 

Whether I manage to get a copy is another matter. I've just signed up on a register of interest but worry it may already be too late if stock is bad.

Yeah same - I've not bought an individual box of space marines in a long time. it's all been from new edition boxes, battleforces or hachette mags. so i'll try and get this as long as its not crazy expensive, but otherwise i'll wait for them to pop up in some other value boxset.
