Depends where you tried getting it from I suppose. Goblin Gaming sold out as I was going through checkout, they had the whole 20% discount.

 

Firestorm Games had no discount on the box, but I cashed in a load of reward points, so I got the box with around the 20% in the end.

Not strictly a popularity thing this time, looks like third parties have been given hardly any stock at all with a couple of bigger ones not even listing it for sale at all. 

 

GW have the box available with no queue which tells it's own story IMO.

The store I ordered from emailed their order to gw Monday and got allocated but when they tried again later that day for another person they were told allocations were all gone 10 mins after the previous one was requested. Would chime with the other lgs not being able to get any when they requested later in the week.

Yeah same - felt it was only worth it for me with 20%, im not desperate for them.

At -20% rrp 3x terminator squads, captain, and chaplain are £148 so its still good value at £155 from GW (or independents that did'nt offer their usual discount).

I wonder if the small allocations to FLGS is a sign we’re already in the pre-edition manufacturing phase for 11th edition? The six months before 10th it seemed everything was selling out instantly, not getting restocked or basically unavailable from anywhere except GW (if you were lucky).
 

Last time it was because so much factory space and time was given over to producing as many boxes of Leviathan as possible. Wouldn’t surprise me if they had started that process earlier than before. 

 

I’m lucky that I was able to secure my box through an FLG, but sad to see other fraters disappointed.

Sure but the Captain and Chaplain were already a "tax" on this box for me - being able to get them effectively free was what would have made the box worth it for me. If I'm going to be spending £155 anyway I'd rather wait and get 3 Assault Squads, the Ancient and Lysander instead.

The ancient tactirock being completely separate will enable me to simply use the 1st company banner I have which is completely upright as opposed to the off-kilter stock banner. Also nice to see the assault terminators have the exact same bit arrangement, now to stock up on fancy bits.

Yeah nice to see they are compatible with the existing ones which means you can mix and match poses a bit and also means any custom bits will work on them too

It's great to see the same pattern of leg and back assembly. You can easily modify those to turn the upper body in a different direction on the 2023 Terminators.

Sad to see the Ancient is limited to a Stormbolter and power sword. Will need to do a little surgery on my kitbashed, but thankfully unpainted Deathwing Ancient. 
 

But on the flip side, the sprue set up of the assault terminators means a few clever bits purchases means a discounted squad with the spare arms.

Now that I see the sprue, I wish GW had done an exclusive Terminator upgrade frame for each chapter.

 

Would come with 5 unique Chapter themed heads, Torso fronts, shins, and a few weapons.

The world of 3d printing fulfills this extremely well. Given what they've been doing with the accessory sprues lately I'd recommend the aftermarket.

Looking over the sprues for the Assault Terminators and the standard Terminator kit, I wonder if they had this in mind?

 

The front sections of all the power fists and lightning claws are all separate as well, so you could have chapter iconography on those as well.

 

So if they did a sprue for each chapter, you could have themed peices for the front torso, shin plates, armoured plates at the top of the legs, front sections of power fists/chain fists/lightning claws, helmets, tilt shields, and the right side of the storm bolter housing.

 

You could also have chapter specific pads, but as they have already done those in the updated chapter upgrade sprues, these wouldn't be as necessary, but still nice.

 

If they did do this, it would make each chapters Terminators nicely distinctive and give some wanted flavour, and it does look like they were made with this in mind. But it would be beneficial to find out if that is the plan soon, otherwise people are going to have all the kits built which would affect sales.

Yep. The new Terminator kit is great for 3rd party bits, and people are delivering on that big time.

Archie’s forge has done some great chapter specific bits.

Yep, Red Warden in particular has a wide selection of shin pads, chestplates and powerfist covers for various chapters that are very good that you can get via Etsy or Archie's Forge if you don't have your own 3d printer.

DMS did one with chaos style bits, but every time that guy rears his head his stuff gets taken down after a week. Bit of whack-a-mole to find anything.

They occasionally pop up on etsy, but afaik those might not be directly associated with him. And technically, if one only needs the files, they could always DM him on stuff like Instagram and ask to buy a copy of the files.

Actually, a large part of the bit offerings seem to be up right now by a seller named AdeptusPhoenixGaming from Arizona. Chances are though that guy might just selling them with no clear indication if the actual sculptor being involved and compensated for it. Even the preview images are almost 1 to 1 but new backgrounds.

 

Also kinda pricey.
