Bertram & Chelsea are 2 characters I created for this setting, but I want them to be shared OC’s within this community. Much like how codices are written from Imperial perspective, these 2 would serve as the “outside Imperial perspective” of this universe. Anyone may use these characters when writing from the perspective of someone in-universe.

Bertram is an inquisitor of Ordo Chronos (the time-travelers, not the calendar men) who went to investigate a temporal anomaly & was sucked in. He & his retinue found themselves in this alternate timeline & have begun to investigate hoping to learn more. Though he doubts they will ever be able to return to their native timeline, he still hopes that perhaps he can learn much & somehow send his findings to Lord Regent Guilliman.

Chelsea is a chief administrator of the Administratum who has studied history for centuries (possibly millennia) & is a native of this alternate timeline. She is intrigued by the stories of the time-displaced inquisitor & wishes to learn as much as she can from him, while eagerly sharing her own knowledge.

Together, the two have been compiling & recording everything they can about this alternate timeline. Bertram writes from the perspective of someone from the canon Imperium, often making comparisons between them, while Chelsea writes from the perspective of “this is how it’s always been” while being fascinated by the differences between their stories. Keep this in mind when writing from either of their perspectives.

Also, the naming IS a reference to the forum being called the “B&C.”

Cool character concepts. The development of an Ordo Chronos detachment for Imperial Agents is intriguing. Even just getting ideas about who is in Bertram's retinue is cool. I love that Kill Team has given us a lot of Imperial weirdos, but I like going further in games where people will let me; Draxus is a radical, and I'll definately be playing some scenarios where she works with Aeldari Rangers, and perhaps one where she works with a Zoat.

So what would Bertram's Retinue look like?

Control over time is often represented on the table by redeploy or reroll shenanigans... But might there be more interesting ways to represent it for the Chronos?

Now obviously, you've mentioned these as "perspective characters," and so maybe their role ISN'T on the table... But I always like to use the game to generate the fluff... That way the fluff turns out to be more consistent with the game than the average BL novel. The game is the frame of reference for everything.

Cheers!

That's a good question I hadn’t thought of. As a perspective character I imagine him to be an avid historian. As such, he would surround himself with like-minded individuals & may even align with some Xenos who share his love of history. Certainly he would also bring along bodyguards, especially when venturing into hostile environments, but I kinda feel like he may not have too many servitors as they would make for terrible conversations. I could see him being a psyker & having one or two psykers in his retinue as well. He might even be crazy enough to try to add an Astartes (loyalist or traitor) to his retinue, at least a librarian or chaplain, someone just as invested in history as himself. This would be an interesting story to flesh out & I’d love to see what other ideas we can all come up with!
