I'm curious to know this: Have you decided which model of power armor goes with which type of units? For example, I don't put Mk3 on Seeker or Recon units, nor do I put Mk6 on Breacher units. On the other hand, I have Mk4 as a more general, unrestricted type of armor, while I leave Mk2 for Veterans and Mk5 as a "curiosity." I guide myself a lot with Deathwatch RPG supplements about armor models, uses and so.

And I always try to ensure that troops in the same squad use the same model. I don't usually mix pieces from different models in the same model, except in very specific cases, such as officers or certain characters (or "ersatz" units created with leftover pieces from other models, specially helmets and shoulder pads).

I play SoH, and they're supposed to be the first to have more and better supplies, as well as more regular ones.In theory.

What do you guys do?

My 2 cent and general guideline:

Mk2: Vets, Long range support (Lascannons, missiles etc.), Jump assault

Mk3: Close support squads (flamers, meltaguns etc), Breachers, Vets, Troops, Retinues
MK4: Tacticals, mid range support (plasma, rotor cannons etc.), some Heavy support, Jump assault, Retinues
Mk5: Inductii, small tac squads (for rhinos), despoilers and other adhoc units
Mk6: Recon, advanced weapons (disintegrators, inferno pistols etc.), Seekers, Tacticals

That said, I run BA so I swap a few things around. My idea being that BA don't really use armor marks in traditional roles. For instance, I have mk6 as Jump and heavy weapon teams since stealth isn't super sought after. Mk2 is rarer in my army but mk3 is still used for close in fighting and support. Mk4 is my most common mark for tacticals and heavy support squads. So I have a plan but it's not really in line with a traditional unit role in places.

You could have old marks for Vets and new marks for new recruits or go the opposite.

I like to go by weapon types:

Mk2: older marines, Complex weapons, Volkite,  Disintegrators

Mk3: up close and personal or siege weapons, Autocannons, Melta

Mk4: Height of Great Crusade, Sleek weapons, Rotor Cannon, Missile launchers

Mk5: Marine killer and desperation weapons, Plasma guns and cannon

Mk6: Height of Heresy, Tried and true weapons, Flames, Lascannon

Of course any weapon could be in any category or you can make up your own reasons that armor is in that squad.
