How do you stop the paper from crinkling/creasing after you put it on the sponge?

Have tried smoothing it out, putting it on very slowly, both, etc

Doesnt feel like am not using enough water but could be wrong

Am using a GSW wet pallette fwiw

More or less, I have the same 'issue'. I found out that a mix of using more water, as to make the paper essentially float on the sponge surface helps.

You might not avoid the crinkling completely, but you can use it to your benefit, for example using the crinkles to make a fine point on your brush and unload some colour at the same time.

One option is these Palette Shields from Game Envy.  I have these as I was already ordering Lucent Lights from them. They do work.

Other people  have said on reddit  "I went to the hardware store. Bought some copper fittings for water pipes. Smallest diameter I could find.

Bought 4 of them for less than like $5. Hammered them flat. Put them in the corners of wet pallet. Does the exact same thing."

Some even mention pennies.

I like the sound of this solution from what I assume is an Iron Warriors subreddit :)

Pennies have very little copper in them, if you are hoping for anti-microbial effects from them. If you are just using them as weights, they should work, but you will get more anti-microbial from stripped copper wire laid into the water. I’m not sure the copper content from the Palette Shields is any higher, so the overall results are probably similar (I haven’t done any personal testing on this). I would wash any pennies you use in your palette with soap before using them so they are less likely to themselves introduce anything that could impact your wet palette environment.

I also use the Palette Shields from Game Envy, and I generally use them or a craft popsicle type stick to run across the surface of the palette paper to get wrinkles out - just be careful not to tear the paper by being too rough while doing this. The corner weights generally keep wrinkles to a minimum.

For anti-microbial purposes, I generally also put a very small dot of dish washing soap under the center of the palette sponge when I change out the water.
