Get your head in the game.

This box contains 51 Space Marine heads – helmeted ones, stern ones, taciturn ones, stoic ones, and also a few shouty and angry ones for good measure. They’re perfect for sprinkling in among your squads and characters, to add some extra personality here and there.

The majority are designed to work with Tacticus armour, but there are also six heads for Terminator armour included. While 30 bare heads make up the bulk of the box, the helmets include a few callbacks to various armour styles, including Mk VI and Mk VII patterns of armour – who can say no to a beakie? There are also four helmets with crests, two longitudinal and two transverse, to mark out your highest ranking characters.

Yeah so this is nice, but makes me even grumpier that half of the chapter upgrade sprue are just heads and helmets

Yes they're "chapter specific" but a lot of these are really close to what are in the upgrade sprues

Looks like a very nice set. Would have loved a few more helmeted heads, I like to have a good selection of unhelmeted heads but I feel I already have plenty already and they're not hard to come by but some more interesting helmets would be great, some more MK.X with fancy optics and what not. Some more bionic head would be great too and a couple more crested MK.X helmets.

I see more MKXI helms!

As nice as the helmets are, many of the bare heads are absolutely hideous.  There has been a marked decline in 40k marine barehead quality lately, a lot of duds in the deathwatch kit, some terrible ultramarine accessory heads, now this

I feel the opposite. The last Space Marine waves contained some of the most amazing Marines heads I saw GW produce.
Especially the last Space Wolves releases which knocked it out of the park.

And those are great!
I feel GW did those heads, because the future SM kits will have (allegedly) mixed armour so people will be able to mix helmets for the existing kits with this upgrade sprue.

Forgot about Space Wolves, some hilariously bad ones there as well, although they are better than this new set.

One of the frowns looks a tad different from the other frowns, featuring ventilation slits instead of pipes. Not sure if we had one like that before.

I'm expecting a few like these in the "Tactical Intercessors" kit that we get in 11th edition

Looks like a good kit overall, however...

What the hell did they do to the Mk. VII helmet? Why are there smoothed-out flanges over the ears? Why does the faceplate look so squished? Why does GW not understand the saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"?

It's great to see something closer to the classic helmets return, but I don't know why they felt the need to modify them into something different. It seems a bit odd to decide to bring back the iconic design, and then go "Na, don't just have them as they were, change them!" so they're not actually that helmet.

These are going to turn out to be MKXI (Mark 11) helmets, i'm telling you.

Like the MKX had the face plate similar to the Mark 4, the MKXI will be an evolution of the MKX, but with the faceplate going back to the Mark 7 grill style.

Would bet money there will be full MKXI armour that is similar to MKX, but with some notable style differences.

Love these. Space marines shouldn't be handsome, they should be battlescarred gene-freaks. These are closer to that vision than anything we've had since the Sternguard kit I'd say. Looks great, will definitely pick these up.

The issue is the Primaris gorget. That's why these helmets are closer to Mark VIII helmets of the old Deathwatch kit in terms of dimensions. You can easily use old tactical heads with Primaris bodies, it just takes a little gorget trimming and a slight boost on the neck.

Warhammer 40k Bitz: Space Marines - Tactical Squad - Head G

One of that new mk7 helmet looks like its inspired by this sergeant helmet from the tactical squad box, but less fancy becouse of extreme simetry.

More bare heads nobody asked for.

Why don't they dont sell helmets as resin bitz is baffling.

Forgeworld (Specialist Studio) won't make parts for 40k now, they're direct rivals with the main studio due to structural decisions. Tinfoil time: if anything I wouldn't be shocked if the main studio did this to cannibalise Forgeworld's existing bare head packs.
