A few eagle-eyes elsewhere on the internet have already noticed that the Corsair kit has some similar bits of cloth.

Had considering posting this as I already pointed this out on another forum, but I always feel starting a thread is such a big respobsibility XD

 

The rumor engine being so long and high up makes me think it could be the tassel on prince yriels spear ( the voidscarred are in eldritch raiders colors, and with Yriel completely cutting ties with iyanden in the codex, I assume his paintjob will go towards the eldritch raiders scheme, also fitting the rumor engine.)

Might also be the place that valrak now apparently talked about another unit beyond the jumppack corsairs ( and vyper/yriel/corsair psyker wich might or might not be the warhammer+ one ) ? I missed that one myself so dont know what was said.

Spear feels a good guess given the direction of the ribbons, though it's not something that's appeared in the artwork so far of Yriel, but I've sort of lost track what happened to him - didn't he have one of the Croneswords? So it might be a different spear now.

There's not enough motion for a Vyper-like thing though, in my opinion.

Both Jes goodwins concept art and the miniature have a ribbon at the tip of the spear, though the former is very small and the latter is both small and awkwardly posed to the point that I have seen some people wondering what the object is, not recognising the ribbon.  The two other official visualisations of Yriel are old codex art wich tended to simplify elements ( like some newer ones do as well, see Lady Malys art wich ommits some minor details, similar to ribbons, from the miniature ) and the cover art for the BL novel.. wich too are known for liberties. The two most official things however, definitely have a speartip ribbon.

 

The spear of twilight = the cronesword, in one of the best elements of that entire narrative element with a lot of not-so-good elements, the croneswords do not have a single form ( I love that it implies that eldar identify the "soul" of things over the "form" .. wish it was emphasized more, its appropiately "alien", but it was disliked because people consider it not making sense so maybe they retcon it.) they adapt to whom holds it... so when Yvraine took it, it became a sword, but in yriels hand it was a spear again.. in the hands of the Yncarne it has 2 different forms ( there is a variant with 2 daggers that is never really advertised )

Yriel is up until the latest codex described as being very changed through those events, and while that is more talking about his person, not his looks, I do see it as probable that this will not be a 1:1 update like the phoenix lords, especially when you consider his model has been designed years ago, likely alongside the corsairs kit.

The spear I very much expect to be there. But I think the armor will be more in line with the corsairs rather than with an autarch,

 

Im curious though, every visual depiction of Yriel (all 4 of them XD ) always involved tyranid in some form or another. Wonder if the trend continues or not.

Plus did he join up with the Ynnari or just work with them to complete the quest to get all the swords?

Its assumable he still has the Spear of Twilight ( wich, until official retcon, is the cronesword ) but it is not directly stated in the last codex ( but also not that he hasnt.) And all it says about his allegiance is that he left Iyanden to be full-time corsair again; 

 

 

( Nowhere is the spear of twilight called a cronesword, however the Yncarnes blurb also doesnt call its weapon a cronesword so Im not so certain about it meaning anything.)

 

There was never any depth given to his exact relations with the Ynnari, in gathering storm he is very much on their side, but he is never said to have joined them. And I doubt that has changed, I think he is considered "the" corsair character more than an Iyanden character, but without subfaction (Iyanden) keywords and Anrathe not being a faction keyword that doesnt influence the game side much, and lorewise its not really that different from before.

Supposedly there are 5 Crone swords which are meant to represent the fingers of Morai-Heg. The Yncarne, Yvraine, the Visarch and Yriel have one each. The 5th is still missing and is thought to have been placed inside the Palace of Slaanesh by Shalaxi Helbane. Uniting the Croneswords would fully awaken Ynnead but with the 5th out of reach, this storyline may end up going nowhere.
