'Morning all,

Noticed there's no topic covering this... and wanted to discuss the apparent lack of points for Legends units. Am I missing something super obvious, or are there no points for Legends anywhere now?

https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/downloads/warhammer-40000/

I'm assuming this is just a dropped ball and they'll show up soonish in some form... maybe on a page at the end of each pack?

I do use Leviathan and Deredeo dreads pretty routinely, and I'd like to continue using at least a couple Grotesques...

It makes sense for all the new inter-codex stuff to land in one place per faction, but I'm not actually sure that Legends should be there as well since it makes them pretty big and hairy even though the stuff most people need will be around the first dozen pages.

Feel free to nuke this topic if I get sniped.

Cheers,

In confusion,

The Good Doctor.

EDIT: Legends points are at the end of the MFM, they're just not shown in pg. 1 Index: https://assets.warhammer-community.com/eng_08-10_warhammer40000_core_rules_munitorum_field_manual-z2bpd8dxz9-mlgvon3nyi.pdf

Hey @Dr. Clock your right to be confused, as the article didn't mention it, but looks like the Legends points are now included as part of the Munitorum Field Manual document. Just scroll down to page 39 and then everything from then on is legends.

And I checked and your dreads are still in it.

Indeed, @Casual Heresy posted just as I was editing OP...

Hilariously, checking the points, the Leviathan Dreadnought dropped 50 points though. It was not worth 210, but 160 is stonks : )

Cheers,

The Good Doctor.

It does annoy me that they have packaged stuff into discrete faction bundles…but chosen to put the points into a separate document.

The justification is that ‘folks want to compare points’. Wouldn’t that be done alongside the unit’s rules, or am I being charmingly naive again?

I love the way that we can't use Legends because they're not supported, not up to date, not official, or whatever. But they're officially updated and supported more regularly than Codex units.

Brilliant, that they're still there for you Good Doctor. Leviathan are the absolute Peak minis in GW long history.

You can use Legends units any time you want outside of tournament playing.  It's just a weird hold-over by the "Competitive at all costs" crowd that you think they aren't usable.

Pretty routinely see old units and forgeworld stuff at most of my tables, both in small format and in big group.  Sure, the monthly RTT doesn't allow them, but that's one weekend and there's always people in the side tables playing games.  The sooner people get over this belief that Legends means they don't exist, the better everyone will be.

i get this distinct vibe the anti-legends folks think they're negotiating with GW thinking they'll get the units back in the codex if they refuse to use the rules lol

Legends all the way for me.

Unfortunately though the SW update seems to be missing a few units from the MFM as far as points cost go.

E.g. Long Fangs and Morkai have both been given legends datasheets in their pack but no points listed for them in the  Legends section of the MFM

Now I have no clue, but years ago when Legends started, the people who kind of led my local 40K scene were guys who traveled for tournaments and wanted all their pickup games to be practice for the next tournament.  This is what got the anti legends sentiment in my area going.  It could be totally different now for all I know but that’s how it started.

Can you just use the last published points value?

Would have been helpful to post a link so we understand what is being discussed

Took me a minute, too.  I suppose it's nice, I was even just complaining in another thread that we didn't have Legends rules for Long Fangs.  Still kinda don't, cause they didn't give us any points for them.

Consolidation is absolutely needed, too bad that they did not do it properly and include the balance dataslate in this.

They did when appropriate; ie if a Grotsmas detatchment got changed, the updated version is in the faction pack.

They probably could've included the Balance Dataslate for each individual faction too, but that's folded into the App to begin with, so not as helpful when most of the Balance Dataslate changed things that require a Codex to show what was changed against.  If you're using the app, all of this has been changed when the original change came through.

Of course, this just begs the question of why we're doing Codexes this stupid asinine way, but that's been true since the beginning of the edition.

They seem to have missed the most recent changes for Emperor's Children, such as the increase in attacks for Flawless Blades.  Hopefully that gets fixed.

I imagine there are other such omissions and errors for other factions.

Did Inquisitor Ostromandeus have rules before this? He's there as an Imperial Agents Legends unit... Don't remember seeing those before!

Also his points aren't in the MFM, but Eisenhorn, who does not appear in the Faction pack, still has points listed. Fun times.

Cheers,

The Good Doctor.
