Lautrec the Embraced
Cool, they even added some new Oaths of Moment (The Blade of the Just, Reapers of Lives, Alone and Forgotten). Maybe this will persuade me to start playing 3.0 ... edit: I really like Endryd, but having T5, Eternal Warrior, D3 fist and providing Infiltrate for the whole detachment seems like a lot for only 165 pts Edited October 9 by Lautrec the Embraced Agramar_The_Luna_Wolf 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/386877-blackshields-rules-for-the-horus-heresy/#findComment-6135689 Share on other sites
Astartes Consul
Good to see continued PDF support running to the timetable and that they keep adding things. I was expecting just a rewrite of the old rules, so the extra Oaths are nice. Alone and Forgotten is very cool. An Allied datatchment of up to six Centurions is a modelling opportunity I'd love to take. Basically a throwback to the old Action Movie marines. Playing with those alongside and/or against Militia/Mechanicum/SA would be like rocking lore Marines. This supplements are better made than official ones. With more care. Ripper.McGuirl
Woah, yeah, Endryd Haar is an absolute monster. And also doesn't seem to limit your Oath choices in any way, so you can really cause some ruckus. I'm going to have to look at making my proto-carcharodons with him. Gorgoff
Oath Lost and forgotten plus the Taint of Xenos= Jedi. Or Sith Then you have a bunch of Centurions running around on their own, all carrying around some pretty nasty melee weapons. They even thought of “If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine,” because the player gets tons of victory points for every Centurion they kill Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/386877-blackshields-rules-for-the-horus-heresy/#findComment-6135729 Share on other sites
MoriyaSchism
Oh, they got rid of the las carbine and the stub carbine. I guess there's no point in having the las carbine around when both las options have the same AP stat. Gorgoff
I guess so as well. Their heavy stubbers and such things are way better than the militia ones. I wonder why they felt the need to do so. Razorblade
Ok, so these are completely and utterly broken and I invite anyone still arguing that the 3e people aren't an incompetent bunch that needs to be fired to try and play a game against blade of the just/alone and forgotten. Razorblade
36 minutes ago, Gorgoff said: How often do you think they will be on the winning side to get those points? Well given they start at +4 they will either win for 3 or die for 2-7. This happens everytime one of your 20 consuls enters combat Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/386877-blackshields-rules-for-the-horus-heresy/#findComment-6136056 Share on other sites
Gorgoff
8 hours ago, Jings said: You don't see this get applied often but I assume because it's specifically a Marine using the weapon. Same reason that the rifles are Pistols. Maybe its because they can just pull the trigger a lot harder as a human and thus shoot faster. It's the same principle like with remote controlls with dying batteries. If we push those harder they keep to work. Simple science fact. 7 hours ago, Razorblade said: Well given they start at +4 they will either win for 3 or die for 2-7. This happens everytime one of your 20 consuls enters combat Ah yeah I forgot the bonuses, you're absolutely right. Either they die and generate 1d6+1 or they win and generate 3. Pretty swell combination. People playing the game with a competitive mindset are to shun and cast out the city anyway so it won't be a big problem and just a very good opportunity for a hobby project. I absolutely loved the new Blackshields they introduced in Beta Garmon (?) which were black with copper armour pieces. I think about making a little detachment with those. Edit: The Blackshield gang is named True Flame and they are indeed in Beta Garmon. I thought about it and now want to make a very little allied detachment for my militia. It is going to be either Lone and Forgot, because it reminds me strikingly of this army list or I am going for Weapons of Desperation. The former would make marines look bigger than life compared to the militia around them which is very fitting and the latter wield the same weapons which looks like some remaining marines desperately try to make due of whatever the puny humans may provide to them to fight and possibly die by their side, which also is very fitting. Variant 1) could be best build by buying the new Assault squad and option B is just a tactical squad. Maybe even only ten men. It's only for style and those ten dudes would have 3 heavy stubbers already and a whole bunch of lasguns, autoguns and so on. EDIT 2: The Taint of Xenos would also be awesome using this weapons. or these. Reminds me of Marvin the Marsian. Given the amount of firepower and Line you get in an average 2,500 point list, and that the Consuls cannot take any transports, I think most players will be able to shoot and out manoeuvre the majority of an Alone and Forgotten list. Arguably its most spicy as an allied detachment. Then your opponent has to chose between trying to shoot/avoid the Consuls, or engaging the main force.
