The 2 inch pivot move. A few of us at our game club kindof just ignore it honestly. I understand why it exists, but since we play on a casual level, we rarely bother with it.

I do agree. GW has never, to my knowledge, got flyers right, yet they do some really nice flyer models. Very proud of the work I put into my Valkyrie, Phoenix, and Nightwing. Lovely models. And I am slowly working on a modified Valkyrie. They tend to be over-costed, but, to be fair, the 10th ed rules are better than previous editions.

Flyers are one of those things that for the most part just don't work at 28mm scale. VTOL craft aren't so bad as they're rough analogues to helicopter gunships, even if they're still weirdly slow compared to most actual VTOL aircraft (helicopter or fixed-wing). Supersonic craft- especially stuff like the Eldar jets, which should make an SR-71 look like a snail- would be difficult to represent even with the "attack run" rules for them originating from 3E, where they spend a turn on the table and don't actually have to move, as even early Cold War jets are fast enough that the idea of them maneuvering within the confines of a 6 by 4 table, let alone the smaller modern tournament-standard types, is utterly ridiculous.

Yes, I agree with you. On the currenttly-sized table boards, a supersonic aircraft, e.g. the the Eldar Nightwing, it makes more sense for them to, for example, a strafing run each turn. Others, such as the Valkyrie flying brick transport with VTOL capabilities, the current rules are fine.

Just my tuppenny's worth.

Very true. I'm not sure where bombers fit in this really. I don't think they really fit with either the more gunship-styled aircraft or the interceptors. It doesn't help that some plastic kits use the same hull for multiple roles. Some kits balance fighter, transport, gunship or bomber roles, which is a lot to ask from an airframe and from a ruleset.

A good example is the Archaeopter hulls. It's roughly a VTOL version of the Mil Mi-24 hind transport/gunship.... but then you can build a bomber from the kit? It's a bit of a peeve of mine that it retains a huge cargo compartment and gains a tiny bomb carousel, which looks pretty half-hearted. If they were going to make a bomber from the kit I wish it looked a bit more dedicated in that role so I wasn't just picturing a fast-moving helicopter that drops bombs. It's hard to say that this is a dedicated bomber and should have rules for a bombing run passing over the battlefield when it looks almost identical to the gunship variant that is meant to loiter on the battlefield.
