Craig
I bought the HH Saturnine box to start an Iron warriors army to use in 30k and 40k. I was looking for an upgrade kit to predominantly save me from having to freehand all those hazard stripes and was hoping someone could point me in the direction of something suitable. I have a 3d printer but the prints I have seen for Saturnine stuff either don't include iron warriors variants or are pretty ugly looking. Hopefully someone in the 30k community can point me in the right direction. To be clear I don't want 3rd party models, just 3rd party add ons to the Saturnine models from GW. Grotsmasha
Failing 3D print parts, Tamiya does multiple thinknesses of hobby masking tapes. 1st step is to paint your armour panel in yellow. 2nd step is to apply the masking stripes. 3rd (and often skipped) step is to reapply the yellow over the masking. 4th step is to then apply the black. Having applied the yellow over the tape first, it will be the yellow that has seeped into the tape, rather than the black, the third step is crucial to delivering crisp lines. Craig
Thanks for the reply. The reason I'd prefer an upgrade kit is that tape on curved surfaces like shoulder pads is really time consuming and the results are never good. If there were 3d printed stencils to place over the shoulder pads they would give me exactly what I want but I don't think they exist. StraightSilver
I'm surprised nobody has made decals for this? I guess there are so many variants of shoulder pads etc it's awkward. Most heresy and primaris kits have standardized pads across the sprue I think. This is why I'm shocked nobody has done stl stencils for them. Someone could make a small fortune making something so simple. Xenith
I'd honestly try to get comfortable with freehanding - hazard stripes are one of the simplest things to freehand, effectively being a line, or two lines depending on how thick you want them. After a little practice I could knock them out pretty fast on most surfaces! I've shown some examples below. Freehanding is nothing to be scared of Cactus, hauteclere and W.A.Rorie 2 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/386881-iron-warriors-saturnine-upgrades/#findComment-6136600 Share on other sites
