The Lost Son
Hi, so with the current preorder of Cannock Var and Suboden Khan I was just wandering having seen the bit of fluff for them when both the white scars and iron hands adopted the codex structure. I've only kept a loose foot in the hobby since around 6th/7th edition having been active from 3rd to that point so have a good enough vague idea what's going on but lack the details. It just struck me as odd that they're both referred to as first captain of their respective chapter in the same way as Aggemon or Lysander would be, when as far as I remember it being the scars and hands both treat companies as independent especially the latter. Sorry if this is in the wrong place Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/386888-when-did-the-lore-shift/ Share on other sites

Sorry if this is in the wrong place My Astartes Lore is not great. I would assume this was with either the 'Spiritual Liege' era, or 8th/Primaris Reboot Era? Yes, but the Iron Hands last time I looked at them had 'Clan Companies' who each had their own mobile mini fortress monastry trundling round their homeworld and each had their own veterans and scouts, there wasn't a 'first' company or a 'scout' company. The Lost Son
@SvenIronhand you are correct, sorry that part was me misremembering and having never really been up on white scar lore. I'd thought that the brotherhood's were in a similar vein of the clan companies being independent and somewhat self sufficient, probably my own interpretation of nomads with no actual basis on lore. @Cleonthat's exactly as I knew the Iron Hands multiple clans each basically they're own chapter, with primacy being more of a personal opinion than structured fact. Iron Father Ferrum
They started pushing the Hands that direction in 5th Edition when the codex mentioned them having a Chapter Master (3rd Edition lore specified they did not have one). The 6th Edition codex supplement & the start of a novel line (the third volume of which has been on hold for a WHILE) furthered the damage by expanding the Clan Council from one member per Clan to 40-some odd members PLUS a voting rep from the Mechanicus. The 8th Edition supplement finished the job, specifying that the Clan Companies are not all quasi-independent battle companies but just codex-adherent Companies with fancy names. I choose to ignore most of the lore changes since 3rd.
