Remember these Xenos tinkerers serving for the Holy Inquisition?

Now is the chance to become one yourself, in joining the Jokaero Challenge 2025.

What is this about?

This is a conversion / painting challenge.

This challenge will be all about creativity and sharing new and original ideas.

The challenge will run till the end of the year (31.12.2025), so we all have plenty of time to get the creative juices flowing.

So get converting and painting!

Rules:

- every participant can enter a maximum of 2 entries- for example, an infantry unit and a vehicle

- Single figures (one large monster, epic hero) are allowed, too

- One unit of converted minis will count as one (so for example one unit of 10 Skaven-Guardsmen).

- Models can already be assembled and primed (so if you discover anything half-forgotten on the shelf, go for it)

What can be entered?

- Fun and original conversions and paint-jobs- just something that is not the usual boring GW standard presentation (this can also include, for example, Ultramarines in full camo gear / ghillie suit WITHOUT any blue on them; the now common "partially switched off holo-camo-field" / "haha, Alpha Legion all along" does NOT count).

- Also some new and exciting basing (like Valhallans in a desert sandstorm or Votann going deep-sea mining)

- An interesting converted orky vehicle

- A unit of Gue'la (human) fire warriors or Skaven guardsmen

- Eldar exodites riding a weird monster (maybe incorporating Age of Sigmar models)

--> anything along these lines.

IMPORTANT- it does not have to be a legal model with a Codex entry, you can also create something JUST FOR FUN. Yes, fun is allowed!

At the start of next year, there will be a poll for the best entries.

Up for grabs are the following badges (thanks to Grotsmasha for helping me with the design):

First place- Gold:

Second place- Silver:

Third place- Bronze:

Everybody who finishes at least one figure (converting and painting) is eligible to wear the participant badge:

I started this challenge since I really like converting and building things, but there are quite a few of these in my pile of shame and I have never even finished them.

I therefore will challenge myself, too.

I will be entering two figures (outside the actual poll and competition of course).

15 (!!) years ago, I converted an old metal Wolf Priest on bike. This model had nearly been forgotten until I re-discovered him recently far back in my pile of shame. It is a great model. It would be sad to see him go to waste, so my first personal entry will be a old metal Wolf Priest on a bike.

Behold, Wulfgar the Angry:

And I recently started a new Tyranid army. During my summer holiday, I did read "Cult of the Spiral Dawn" by Peter Fehervari (great book, by the way).

In this book, guard sentinel pilots are hypnotized by the Genestealer Cult, so that Genestealers can ride into battle on top of the sentinels.

How cool is that?

I had to re-create the idea.

So my second entry will be a "counts-as" Pyrovore proxy of an Aberrant riding on a sentinel.

You have better ideas?

Then let's see them!

Whilst I have an Ork vehicle sketched out and all the bits in a bag ready to get chopped up, I don't think I'd get it done by the end of the year given my current work rate.

I've had a Kill Team kitbash in the back of my mind for that but which operative...?

I, Rusted Boltgun, vow to complete at least one Kill Team operative of the [REDACTED] faction.

I'd like to leave the actual model until a final reveal but will post pics of some bits as I get them together.

Thanks for putting this challenge together @Valkia the Bloody and @Grotsmasha and other mods for providing support.

I'm knee deep in repainting my Sister's, but I'm definitely interested. I'm tentatively planning on a converted GSC model, but I'll hold a vow off until I know for sure I'm in.

As an avid converter, this piques my interest, but I really don't know what I'd participate with?

I'm currently bashing some primarisized Grey Knights from Sword Brethren and Deathwing Knights, but they're kind of bland for an event like this.

Perhaps I should finish the plastic Dark Angel Caestus (two Storm Wolves and a Storm Talon) I've had on the back burner for years?

Perhaps I could show more of the "Poorhammer 4,000" (was working on a Class-based skirmish game for a bit) models I've made?

I really wish past Jono had got his :cuss: together and repaired / replaced my 3D printer, as that would really open avenues up.

Well, you did a great Dreadknight conversion, that alone would count.

But of course, if you have even better ideas, even better.

I'll do something new (to the board at least)

This sounds like a fun hobbying event. I might submit a Bezerker calmly sitting and relaxing in his den reading and sipping a cup of tea. Like many of you, I need to see if I can find the necessary bitz though.

@Valkia the Bloody  never done one of these before, would my Void Panthers count?

If so,

I, space wolf, vow to complete a squad of sword bretheren in the styling of the Void Panthers.l, and another thing, that Ill figure out later.

Yes, of course your Void Panthers count!

You have done some amazing conversions!

I am looking forward to seeing more of them.

This comes a little late in the year for me vow any of my caped (chaos) marine conversions, as I don't have time to do them and then airbrush them before the onset of winter which should be in the next couple of weeks in my part of the world.  Unless, of course, I can vow already built and primed models, which doesn't seem in the spirit of the event - here's a picture of them in their current state..

That said, I've had for a while a conceptual project of making a vindicator out of the current rhino kit and the old 2nd ed metal parts that went with the old rogue trader era rhino that I could revive and complete before the end of the year.

Well, since I am myself entering a model which I built and primed 15 (!!) years ago, as far as my spirit goes, yes, you can vow already built and primed models.

The main rule of this event is "creativity and fun".

One of the reasons I started this event was actually finding that old converted metal figure, I am not sure I would have gotten him out for painting otherwise and future archeologists might have found him.

But of course you can also built something new.

Or you could enter one of each.

Just have fun with it.

Thanks - I edited in a link to a photo of the models in their current state (while you were typing, I think), so if that changes your opinion, let me know.

So, what is the intent on vowing?  Vow both up front?  Vow then complete then revow?  Either?

Honestly, your primed unit looks fine for this purpose.

You can vow both now, or, if this is too stressful, you can vow one after the completion of the other.

As I said, have fun.

There is no need for self-castigation (even if it would please Slaanesh) or stress here.

I just started building a custom shrine for my space marines, from a box of junk terrain I got. Would that count? My boys are a bit over the top with their hero and emperor worship, and like to flash a lot of different bling around.

Yes, this is perfect!
