physicalpres
Hello just wanted to say hi before I head through the topics and learn what I can! After hanging up my painting when the figures were still made of lead, I’ve never even considered dropping back in until very recently. For no reason at all, I passed a warhammer shop and this time I headed in. Bought a starter set. when I was a teenager, I never played battles, but enjoyed the painting aspect, although I was never any good. I had a small group of Space Wolves, as they had only recently got there codex at the time, so White Dwarf magazine was all over them. And here I am, 30 years later….. painting Space Wolves! Things have changed a lot in the Warhammer World, so I need to do some research, and this time around, I may actually play once I have a band of marines that I’m proud of. Ha. so hello to you all. im Dave….. and I currently own 5 intercessors (practising techniques) - although I won’t be winning any painting competitions- I have a long way to go! Shard of Magnus
Welcome back to the hobby and to the B&C @physicalpres! The Forge and Space Wolves forums can be good sources of tips and help as you progress on painting. There are a number of members who focus on painting and converting only - you’ll find lots of support on how to improve if you’re interested. New editions tend to follow a 3-year cycle these days. The 11th edition of 40k is expected in summer of next year. Keep that in mind if you do start to look at playing; it may influence when you want to buy rule and army books. WBRBloom
Welcome on board @physicalpres /Dave! Ain't it good to be back? I can only imagine how it was jumping on the GW wagon after 30 years, I was off of it for 10 and seemed like a lifetime. You'll initially feel lost and drowning in a sea of new information, especially if you have a look at how many content creators and youtube painters are out there. Don't feel overwhelmed, take deep breaths, thin your paints and use two thin coats (you'll see what I mean). ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/386935-back-after-30-years/#findComment-6137712 Share on other sites
