Using heresy minis as proxys in 40K.

Hi all. I’m constructing some heresy models to proxy as 40K. Some things are pretty easy to do direct swaps for but others less so. I went to look for the points values for the heresy models on the community site and since they’ve been reorganized into faction packs am struggling to find them. Also, does anyone know if the saturnine stuff got 40K rules at any point as I couldn’t see this anywhere. (Presuming a no) thanks in advance.

Points values are all in the Munitorum Field Manual, with Legends entries at the end of the document. The faction packs have the Datasheets for all Legends units at the end as well, the Space Marine one has most/all the Heresy-era stuff. Here's a link to the WC site for ease of access:

Thanks for that. Found the points values now they’re just a bit jumbled up. Seems the saturnine stuff doesn’t have 40K rules still which is a shame.

You could be heretical and proxy the Saturnine box for chaos like I am.

– 1x Saturnine Praetor - Daemon prince

– 1x Centurion in MKII power armour - chaos lord

– 1x Saturnine Dreadnought - hellbrute

– 6x Saturnine Terminators - obliterators

– 40x Legionaries in MKII power armour - legionnaires

I got some heavy weapons upgrades to turn one of the legionnaire squads in to 2 havoc squads.

There's not far off a 2k army in the box. It's not going to win you any tournaments but if you're proxying anyway I assume you are playing casual games.

The Saturnine Praetor could be proxied as a Terminator Captain.

The Saturnine Termies are actually a similar size to Centurions so that could work depending on weapons.

The dread is, however, massive so there's not an obvious parallel if size is an important factor in your proxying. I also don't think there's an obvious entry to use the gun platform for either.

I think a forgefiend, although still smaller, would be a better fit.

The Redemptor isn't that much smaller, it could work as long as your not super focused on WYSIWYG.  Maybe the gun platform can be a Hammerfall bunker?

I've been using the Saturnine Dreadnought as a stand-in for Redemptor-chassis dreadnoughts recently and it works fine. The shoulders make it a smidge taller but width is the same as is the base size. Saturnine Terminators work well for centurion/obliterator stand-ins in my experience, and I am using the saturnine praetor as a stand-in for Cannok Var/other TDA characters on 50mm bases. They usually wind up roughly the same height with scenic bases anyways and locally we also aren't that fussed about such things anyways.

Proteus

100% - used mine last night for my first Caanok Var terminator spam game, and it's just a really good time.

For list building in the app the Brutalis is luckily the same points as both a Leviathan and a Deredeo right now, and I like using both. I just used a Leviathan as a Brutalis last night out of not wanting to look up the Legends sheet... having used the Leviathan all edition, I can report that and they are honestly very similar. Deredeo with las and missiles is likewise probably fine as a Ballistus, though the plasma version I have will continue as a Legends rule-of-cool anti-TEQ piece.

Cheers,

The Good Doctor.

My best mate has used heresy Predators, Cataphractii Terminators and a Proteus Land Raider in his 40k Chaos army at a grand tournament at Warhammer World, after clearing it with the events team just in case.

If it’s good enough for the literal home of Warhammer, it’s good enough for everywhere else.

I think the best plan is always talk to people. Players and tournament organisers who refuse are probably not worth engaging with. As long as nothing is modelled for advantage, and you’re clear on what is what, most normal players will just be happy to see a cool looking army on the other side of the table.
