Aside from my being convinced they're not allowed to use 40k as that's a main studio thing.

I think this is the core of it, somewhat depressingly.

Whether it's 30k or 40k will be the result of some inscrutable internal politics.

IIrc in Valrak's latest vid he said the Fire Raptor was going plastic, so maybe it's that?

Edit: For Big Heresy that is.

Leaving the Oil drum for Necromunda, wich makes sense.

Not that these teases worked like this previously, but its all we have to speculate on.

Funny you should mention that, but: for awhile The Old World build-up did focus on the game being set during the Age of Three Emperors. The first map they put out emphasised that the game is set specifically when Sigmar's Empire was split into four: the Grand Duchy of Talabec (under the Ottillian Emperor Lugwig XII), the Barony of Westerland (Empress Elspeth Magritta VI), the Grand County of Osterlund (Count Sigismund Ulric), and the Principality of Reikland (Prince Wilhelm I). This is before Magnus the Pious reunited everyone during the Great War Against Chaos.

One of the oddities of TOW is that, having set that up, some were speculating that the game would be Empire focussed (with new resin units/bits for each of those four claimants). Essentially, that it would launch as "The Horus Heresy-but-WHFB".

I think most are happy that didn't happen; but on the other hand, it's a little odd that having played up the "Empire civil war" period, they haven't done much with it. (Or, well, the one new character is a Talabeclander, who is "on loan" to Nuln as they resist Reiklander pressure.)

This wasnt just random speculation afaik, I cant find the article, but they actually said in the early days something in the vein of "While it will focus on the human battles, there is still space for other races and chaos, but they have a more backseat role" going into details about what each where doing at the time.. wich in my memory implied it was more like Wood elf allies for bretonnia or Norse being present but not yet as an indentifiable chaos force ( basically.. more like the marauders ) and things like that, rather than them actually being centrepiece armies, and over time maybe introduce more as the story develops ( I seem to recall Orcs and Goblins being mentioned as a potential first growing threat ). The early talk definitely didnt seem to imply the prime focus being old kits and factions with new rules what it is now.

The rumors of the radical shift of dwarves and beastmen halfway during an AoS campaign also seemed to emphasize that to me.

I think the traditional treasure chest

may hint at Dogs of War for TOW as I think Valrak has saud he's heard some rumours about them. There was a model who had a treasure chest carted around with him so he was always close to his riches. Of course it could also be cosairs but thats the nature of hints that could go both ways (probably one hint for one system however)

With Dead Silence going on pre-order this coming week I wonder if this show was where the Sisters vs Raptors box was originally meant to be shown off, maybe the Nightbringer as well? It would be nice to see more than Just Ultramarines for 40k, I imagine we'll see a splash of Battalion boxes to kick off the campaign at least.

yep, both chaos.. ( I cant find a preview show, just the preview for Shadowspear, I think they did more random online reveals back then ?.)

I am surpised if LI is featuring heavily. Locally to me Epic Armageddon events are selling out while Legions struggles, which is not a good look considering the former hasn't been sold officially in 20 years.

My own thoughts are that the game is not really suited for events play: 3 hours + per game, crunchy rules & inbalances make it tough on TO's.

I have also heard from AoD players that initially dabbled in LI, that the latter takes too much time & attention (it is not to be taken lightly), they can't do both and so have gone back to AoD.

Although I see a lot of people collecting & painting the minis, which you see a lot with many historicals games too, lots of people playing at home so even though there isnt a 'tournament scene' like Epic Armageddon has, GW are still shifting models perhaps?

Someone work out what kind of plane they’re flying. Because it it’s one that has a reputation for being impossible to build and maintain…then plastic Fire Raptor is confirmed!

Its a single engined Cessna

Twin engined Cessnas are more common

This is me, haven't played outside my house ever, but in our household for Legions we have a SoH army, a shattered legions army, a solar aux army, a mech army, 3 titan legions and 2 knight houses. I still think the relatively invisible buyers who are collectors and home gamers are a large, maybe largest, part of GW's customers.

I imagine a lot of those Epic Armageddon players are buying LI kits as well because... well, it's plastic Epic scale Marines (and 'close enough' Not!Guard), so GW sees their kits are selling and is happy to produce more.

I can only imagine we're at least going to see tiny fellblades, maybe tiny glaives as well. (Dual kit maybe?) Though they're usually doing these releases in waves, so maybe a Dropsite expansion, with (dare I dream) a tiny Sokar Stormbird?

My local game stores have to be selling LI stuff, because they have it in their restocks whenever they post about it on social media, but I legit have never seen a single game being played. HH sometimes, 40k all the time, LI not even once.

Maybe it is like others have suggested - if people want to play HH they are playing HH. If they want to play Epic, they are not playing LI.
