Indy Techwisp
Had a thought actually. There's a possibility that this is an early test version of the Berserker Surgeon that someone's got their mitts on, painted up and photoshopped onto a WE Box, meaning while it's "real" the actual final version may look quite different. Jings
23 hours ago, TheMawr said: That theory is 100% not the case There is about 2 weeks between rumor engine and the first post of this topic ( I dont know how much longer the "leak" existed ) A 3rd party seeing the RE, sculpting this, putting it online for sale, someone buying it, printing it, painting it and then photoshop the fake box is not a realistic thing to happen in less than 2 weeks. Someone doing it themselves in 2 weeks, thats maybe possible, but the whole 3rd party seller In-between bit ? No. Btw the tubes on the back look seperate to me, You see the same bluer gray of the background object in between the parts that are a more metallic gray. It wouldn't exactly be difficult to make some alterations to existing CSM/WE STL files and make a digital kitbash if you have the time and skills to recreate a rumour engine model. From there, printing is a doddle and you can paint a mini to that level in a day easy. The only thing stopping it being a seller, really, is that no one has ID'd the STL. So I don't think that's likely. I reckon it's much more realistic that someone saw the rumour engine image, maybe had the thought of making a Berzerker-Surgeon already, was happy with the result then shooped up a box for it. GW likes to stick to their 'design language', and it tends to be Inquisitors and their like that have the keys. No-one ever had a sand-timer before, so giving one to the Judiciar wasn't taking from an established theme. A GW model would have some Butcher's Nails, ready to be implanted, dangling from the waist. Red butchers are locked into their armour, you might argue the surgeons patients need locking into restraints. There are 3 plastic Inquisitors that are on the market, none of them have a key. In fact the only minis I can think of with keys are chaplains. But I don't imagine they'd be trying to implant butchers nails mis battle, so that's an odd thing to carry. Short version: keys aren't common in any 40k range and for something to exist as a design language it has to be introduced somewhere. TheMawr
6 hours ago, Laurence said: Why would a Berzerker-Surgeon have a key tied to his belt? It's not a real GW release. While the key confuses me too, its actually one element that makes it more in favor for being real to me. Because the same argument would be even more True the other way around... why would a WE fan, who copies other almost exact elements including a rumor engine, randomly add a key wich is currently not part of the design language. There is not a single original element in there Except the key.. and as a GW product it could in the least be tied to new fluff. Almost all these "gw doesnt do X" kind of arguments are actually debunked by the WHU Khorne warband released this summer i keep posting here. ( There is also a farmers tool on one of those miniatures backside thats really out of place ) and... it could easily be the same sculptor imho. If those werent a thing, i would be more skeptical on those elements as well.. but they are an actual thing, GW has a sculptor who made those and does exactly those "gw would never" things. ( and as i pointed out, it might be the latest Deathguard character's sculptor as well, just coupled with a better execution, it really wouldnt suprise me .. there is a strong "everything can appear on the miniature once philosophy very uncommon for GW on those 3 kits ... ) But that doesnt take away the other strangeness. And there is still the paintjob issue ( though there too.. im not convinced that WHU warband is that different from this either.. including the strange choice of a too yellowish skin tone, and hardly shading musculature ) Its such a fascinating thing Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387055-berserker-surgeon-real-or-fake/page/8/#findComment-6144490 Share on other sites
