Token
Can regular Imperials teleport, or is the strong psyche of a marine required for that? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387062-regular-humans-teleporting-fluff/ Share on other sites
casb1965
Depends on what you mean by teleport, if you're talking deep strike then yes Tempestus and inquisitors can. Brother Anderson
My understanding of the lore, and please correct me if I'm wrong, is that teleportation is so hazardous due to it essentially being a walk through the warp that only heavily armoured troops like terminators are capable of surviving. That said, archeotech is basically space magic, so it's totally possible for a rare bit of technology enabling regular humans to teleport to exist in the hands of a rogue trader, inquisitor or the like. LameBeard
Agree with the above: teleportation is travel through the warp in a bubble. Tremendous risk both physically and psychically. See also Ork Shokk Attack guns which may send snotlings through a tunnel in the warp, but they don’t come out quite the same! Lathe Biosas
It's less about armour and more about your mind as you are exposed to the Warp for the briefest of moments during transit. Inquisitors and their agents use Teleportariums and House Faustaris of the Imperial Knights deploy entirely from huge Teleportariums aboard their ships directly into battle. Kommisar_K
I know I'm a tad late to this discussion but I believe Ciaphas Cain has been teleported around once or twice. Emergency measures, y'know. I could be mixing things up, it's been a while... In any case, while it seems Space Marine Terminators are among the only ones specifically adapted for teleportation, a lot of the risk factor of jumping through the warp depends on willpower and the attentions of the things that dwell within the warp. So we get Astartes with modified armor and warp-weaving Aeldari getting through without a scratch (mental or physical) while something like a snotling will come out raving mad. The way GW writes, I'd expect it to be hit or miss for the average human. Among certain Imperial organizations the risk would go down, as they're recruited from better sources and well trained. Longer warp jumps, of course, are out of the question. Token
Thansk people, the reason i asked is that i have been thinking of making Vaan saar counts as Tempestus, and they have deep strike now, so i thought id go for Parachutes or little teleporting bitz on their power packs, I have been using Sicarian Ruststalkers backpacks for their powerpacks, reminiscent of the Grey Knight packpacks Interceptor squad, their short rods. Not sure I can make parachutes.. Im guessing Geller fields are very large, only on starships? Dont think they could have something like that as protection.. Just in the idea phase so far, not sure I'll make them. Lathe Biosas
Just say they have a Teleportarium. It works for Rogue Traders and Inquisitors alike, and your troops don't need any special equipment getting where they're going.... Getting back... that's a different story. Kommisar_K
Just remembered. In Renegades: Harrowmaster by Mike Brooks a human psyker lady uses warp magic to essentially teleport herself and her Astartes masters around. Maybe you can use that somehow? Token
So, seems like a teleportarium is the best idea then, no modelling required, thanks people.
