I hope sometime soon GW remember there's other Factions in this game than just Marines...

 

Putting that aside, Micro-Saturnine Box go. The only thing missing is Disintegrators.

I think this Saturnine box would have been a great opportunity to introduce a primarch in Vulkan. But maybe they’re saving them all up for a later journal.

 

It’s all useful stuff for my Shattered Legions force though, so I’ll probably end up getting it.

 

There’s obviously a lot of plastic that needs shifting, otherwise we wouldn’t keep on seeing these army boxes full of first wave models. Which makes me a bit nervous… And, yeah, if I were a non-Marine player then I would start to be worried about when I’ll get some new toys, especially as Marines still have a few things to downsize.

How many points is this/how much of an 'army' the combined arms battle group for marines is? Never bought into LI before but it's a nice array of units

It’s about 1500 points worth, which fills out a demi-company formation with some models to spare. I’ve played a few 1500 games and it is a good starting level to get used to the rules.
 

As ever I’d recommend picking up another Astartes infantry box to go with it though, they never include enough.

Christmas boxs and combat patrol / spearhead are the same thing in terms of shifting stock. I would not consider these boxs a warning sign. Legions Imperialis is a niche game, but many who play, spend significantly per person, compared to a game like Warcry. We're some of the "sticky customers" mentioned in GW earnings reports.

Yeeeeeeeeeeees!!! Marine super heavies were the thing missing to make that faction feature complete imho. Love to see them. Also really happy to have another expansion book. The LI ones feel the most like the old black books. Really happy with this.

Minis are nice, but they need to deal with the actual gameplay, i hardly see anyone actually play the game, 90% its Epic Rules or third party rules.

Those little Saturnine look lovely. Not for Legions, but am kind of tempted to do a big Great Crusade/pre-Heresy army for Epic and one of the old Legion colour schemes ( Dusk Raiders or something)

Probably just the scale, but the Falchion chassis looks quite blocky to me?

Think they redesigned it a bit when trying to fit in the flamer variant. Same with the fellblade that had some design deviations.

Legion superheavies look great

 

Legion Combined arms looks an almost auto buy to me, any guesses on price?

 

(As lack of infantry came up again, Id encourage 4 to a base to stretch it out a bit)

I wish they would fill in some obvious gaps in more basic infantry before these new terminators.  We have no breachers or recon marines, support and heavy support squads need at least a second weapon type.  existing terminators lack any heavy weapons.

 

Glad to see that marines are getting their baneblade variants now.

I was a bit surprised to see this.  I have been concerned that they didn't put out the last book digitally.  But getting more minis is a good sign.  I suspect we will eventually get those new Mechanicum infantry too.

I wish they’d use these big boxes to split sprues, giving you more of fewer things. Nobody needs 6 Xiphons but if they’d given you 3 and a storm eagle you’d have a much more useful set of planes - and so on. You shouldn’t really need to buy eight vindicators with your Saturnines.

They mention in the preview article that this is the first time it's been seen, so it hasn't existed in model form previously (I don't recall it being mentioned before either, but there could be a reference somewhere I guess).

I recently ordered some new LI to paint a new SM faction. During Crimbo Limbo I intend to use the models for an Axis & Allies game using the hexagonal Planetary Empires tiles. It will be truly epic.

The Felblade brings me great joy. Admittedly, I haven’t even picked up any of the previous release so I need to get on that sometime soon. 
 

While it’s cool that Saturnine are being released I suppose, I’m just not a fan of the new lore for it and it’s now abundance during the Heresy. While I love the idea of an entire army made up of Terminators and Dreadnoughts (something I’ve been working on since the release of LI), I do wish they had done so with Cataphractii. 
 

That being said, I’m still addicted to this game (even if I can barely find anyone to play or the time to do so) and so I know I’ll pick the box up anyhow. Pathetic.
