I wish they’d use these big boxes to split sprues, giving you more of fewer things. Nobody needs 6 Xiphons but if they’d given you 3 and a storm eagle you’d have a much more useful set of planes - and so on. You shouldn’t really need to buy eight vindicators with your Saturnines.

Fwiw the article says the Saturnine Termies and Dreads are also coming in their own box if you don't want to grab the Battlegroup (12 Termies, 2 Command, 4 Dreads).

Interestingly the Combat Forces do split the sprues up (3 Dracosans, 5 Rhinos, etc).

Quick clarification, it's 6 bases of termies per box. The 12 is a typo, that's how many you get in the battleforce.

It certainly seems like a typo but has GW actually said it is somewhere? The article still says 12 terminator bases in each box.

To the best of my knowledge, GW hasn't said anything about that. It is an assumption based on the comparison between the individual box and the bundle. The question was raised on the FB post about the Saturnine box and bundle but GW didn't react to it (so far).

My "worst-case scenario" approach tends to favour the typo. The "best-case" would be that there are 24 bases of Saturnine terminators in the bundle of course  Edit: but with 76 models in the bundle, that is unfortunately not the case ...

"Getting a head start with this heavy assault force couldn’t be easier – all the new kits above are collected together in the Saturnine Battle Group box, which also pairs them with a squadron of heavy vehicles.

You get two of the Saturnine Heavy Assault Cadre sets – for a total of 12 Terminator squads, four Command squads, and eight Dreadnoughts – with one set of eight Araknae platforms, eight Vindicator Siege Tanks, two Mastodon Super-heavy Assault Transports, and two Fire Raptors."

Would the solar auxilia box be a good start if i have the half from the core?

I'd say so. Another box of Infantry never goes amiss, the Support Box is very good since you need it for Pioneer Companies, Lightnings are the better of the 'air superiority' planes, Dracosans are excellent and Shadowswords are decent (particularly now there's more Titans and Knights seeing play with Mech) to pair up with Vanquishers you could make from the starter set.

Not ideal timing is it.

I've not really been following GW releases closely recently but am I right in thinking that the limited collection box sort of things are only available via GW? Or at least very limited at discounters as to make them almost impossible to get? So I should expect to pay full price?

They're on the retailer price list Matrindur posted, so you'll be able to get the discount.

Previous LI Battle Groups haven't been difficult to get hold of I've found, so you should be fine.

Journal preview.

>Terminator/Dreadnought Formation which gives them all Deep Strike (rip Assault Spearhead)

> Marine Super-heavy Formation

> Araknae/Tarantula Formation

>Salamander FoL with Saturnine crammed into Mastadons

>Iron Warrior FoL with 'massive guns' (guessing super-heavies)

>Solar Auxilia Proximan Sacramentii FoL with Russ' and Malcadors that 'get grindier' when given a Charge Order

Other than the disruptor fist having a terrible rule (two wounds on a 4+ roll), the Saturnine terminators look to be a great addition to the game with their teleport specific detachment. There is only one weapon arm type per Saturnine terminator on the sprues. You'll need to mix and match kits or print additional arms if you're looking to go exclusively with paired plasma bombards or paired twin heavy distintegrators.

Genuinely this expansion is a win, every unit is usable and some bring new game mechanics.
