Demon question-codexes

I haven’t paid much attention to 40K for months now, and remember a rumor demons was being broken up into their specific gods with associated chaos marines.

did that happen? Looking on the website under demons I see models but I’m not seeing a codex.

I guess both are kind of true.

 

The codexes for each of the God alligned chaos space marine legions (Emperor's Children, World Eaters, etc) each have a detachment in the codex where you can field both demons and marines, with the demon datasheets in that legion's codex.  I'm really only familiar with EC, but my understanding is that all 4 work that way.  Anyway, the demon choices are faily limited - the faction's greater demon, its named version, a troop option, an elite option, a the fast attack opinon - and that's it (so, for EC, the keeper of secrets, Shalaxxi, demonettes, fiends and seekers). 

 

Demons are still playable as their own thing, under the Chaos Demons Index off of the GW website.  There are a couple of detachments for that index now (4 at Christmas, one since that is Belakkor themed and lets you include chaos space marine units).  Index demons can still be taken as allies in the various chaos detachments but not (I believe) in the specific demon-themed ones from the god codexes.  My understanding is that Chaos Demons won't be getting their own codex this edition and we'll have to see if they survive into 11th ed as their own distinct faction.

It's a half the year, and demons get new detachments in faction pack. 

Are the daemons still separated from monogod legions?

Situation remains as I set out here.  Only difference is that Demons now exist solely through their 11th ed. faction pack, rather than their 10th ed. one.  So it is at least confirmed that demons survive into 11th, though we still don't have any idea what level of support we'll get this edition.  So, demons are in a better place than Imperial Agents, despite Agents having a had a codex in 10th - they didn't get any 1 DP detachments, which suggests GW is rethinking their status as an independent faction rather than just a source of allies to attach to the other imperial codexes.
