I’ve read a fistful of BL, mainly Ravenor, Eisenhorn and various Astra Militarum, so when my local library had Iron Warriors in the Warhammer section (helpfully under W and not scattered by author) I snagged it looking for a fun chaos romp.
I had no idea how gnarly some of this would be, in a good way. The short story The Enemy of My Enemy set in Medrengard was some of the grossest BL I’ve read. It was awesome.

Honsou is a fun character who keeps steady(?) with Undivided, and seeing him balanced out with the specified Chaos worshippers in his retinue is a great dichotomy. Some of my favorite bits are the comparatives of his captains’ internal monologues and opinions on the Iron Warriors methodology.

Storm of Iron has a special place for me, I remember going to a local book store as a kid 25ish years ago and getting it, it was my first Warhammer book

They're definitely older in the same way that the Ventris novels are, but I feel as though they still are fun reads and its interesting that to this day any 40k Iron Warriors lore is basically only from that series

Its kind of a cool throwback from GW that Aethon Shaan is now the Raven Guard Chapter Master considering he's from a Honsou adjacent novel
