My girls are interested at painting some miniatures with me and I have the Indomitus Necrons gathering dust. What better than a nice dry brush scheme for a 12 and 9 year old to start on.

A basic leadbeltcher, nulin oil start then a dry brush of iron breaker and the runfang.

All was going well and the 9 year old was getting into it. Then she decided she wanted the glow to be pink.

Time for a few trial runs

I’m want to keep this as simple as possible.

The black gun is slap chop using grim black speed paint.

The pink is 50/50 layers of princess pink speed paint over smaller layers of white

I don’t know if the pink is a bit to pale to work as a glow

I’m open to suggestions

The Necron came out really well.

I think I might be inclined to make the gun a bit darker...? Maybe that's just me being used to the Studio's black guns, though.

Thanks. I think its the lighting. With the exception of the barrel the gun is very black. You can barely see the highlights from the dry brush.

That said it could be my eye sight as it does look more gray enlarged on the laptop screen

I was going to go with a more magenta dark pink but the 9 year old wanted to do princess pink and shes very happy with it, so i think we are going with it. It was intended to be her project I just got into how simple it was to pint after my edge highlighted blended Dark angels.

I suppose you could put a glaze of Fluo Magenta if you want it to have a little more "oomph" whilst retaining the same "feel"?

An update to little JJDs princess pink Necrons

They might need another glaze of pink or maybe a darker shade as suggested

I’m really impressed how neat she has been

I think the scheme works well

If I'm being critical, the eyes could do with being a little brighter to add definition?

I was planning to do another glaze, but they look good tabletop and I didn't want to risk it at the time as I was struggling with the very small detail.

I also wanted it to be as much the girls work as possible

that said I might do it down the line as I got some magnifying glasses which really help. It like getting my old eyesight back for painting

When you mentioned the pink glow for the Necrons, I wasn't too sure, but now I've seen the finished job, I'm sold.

The pink was not my choice I was going to make my like easy with the blue or green I've done before on my Dark Angels.

That said if little JJD got it fully her way the whole model would be pink.

Well, little JJD's obvious got a good eye for things!

I have been building the rest of the Indomitus Necrons and it was generally an enjoyable experience. Obviously I haven’t built any models in years and these were quite different to the old marines I remembers so I left the larger models until last when I was getting the hang of it.

With that experience in mind I just wanted to share that the Canoptek Reanimator is a big spindly :cuss: whose stupid T-Rex arms fell off without me touching them and were a Colossal pain in my butt to glue back on.

You should make a Tyrannocyte. It's a joyous experience that makes you wish baby seals would club YOU.

I went with a simple cork base. We might have been a bit heavy with the wash. The girls loved crafting the bases.

These look great! The non-standard glow color is a cool choice by the munchkin.
