Lord Nord in Gravis Armour
Our long nightmare is over, Fraters! Many of us were concerned about the disappearance of Captain Fabian and his Third Company in the early years of the Indomitus Crusade (as related in the novel Of Honour and Iron, which MUST take place quite early on as the Ultras are still being introduced to these "new" Primaris marines). Well, Captain Fabian has been confirmed alive and well with the dropping of what appeared to be a near-afterthought in an article devoted to the promotion of Ferren Areios (another Black Library character, so CERTAINLY whoever wrote this article knows that the aforementioned book also exists, right?) Relevant portion: "When he returned to Macragge, Ferren Areios met with Roboute Guilliman and was officially recognised as Captain of the Sixth and Master of the Rites. Thereafter, Areios joined Captains Ventris of the Fourth Company and Fabian of the Third Company in mopping up operations on worlds affected by the recent Plague Wars. It is this duty that has brought Ferren Areios and his company to the very border of the 500 Worlds of old, isolated in what has become part of the Plague God's domain. How Ferren will handle being pushed to the limits of his Chapter's creed by the Death Guard remains to be seen." So yes, a decade AFTER his last communication reporting that the Third Company had suffered a great defeat and having not been heard from since, Mikael Fabian has been confirmed alive and well. And at the end of a WarCom article with no attention actually being paid to that particular fact. Heck, it's almost like Fabian is such a chad that the author of the article is treating the idea that anyone could have POSSIBLY ever thought he was dead as preposterous. Fair play, WarCom. Another win for your in-house "Loremasters!" ... Okay, I guess there's the SLIGHT chance that whoever wrote this article doesn't have a clue about Fabian's reported disappearance and simply cribbed from the latest chapter org chart they could find, one which didn't happen to mention Fabian's apparent loss because no successor had yet been named anywhere. But come on, it's not like WarCom makes mistakes like this. Often. Toxichobbit
I noticed that as well. It better not be a mistake. The other captains are cool, but Fabian is the original. Titus, Ventris, Aeiros, Sicarius, Agamman, Acheran, Ideus - Fabian pre-dates them all as a character with lore (as opposed to just a name on a Chapter org chart). The only captain that I'd accept on the same level as Fabian is the absolute legend that is Saul Invictus. Or, to be more accurate, was Saul Invictus. Lord Nord in Gravis Armour Posted yesterday at 12:33 AM Author Share Posted yesterday at 12:33 AM Well, IF Fabian is actually mentioned in the novel and the issue of his disappearance is actually addressed, that would prove that WarCom actually knew what they were talking about. Place your bets... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387135-rejoice-captain-fabian-lives-warcom-told-me-so/#findComment-6142993 Share on other sites

Place your bets... I don't believe that the writers ever read the novels. In the novel Dawn of Fire: The Wolftime (by Gav Thorpe) Captain Orstanza states that he cannot wait until the Dragonspears receive their own reinforcements of Primaris Space Marines. This implies that the Dragonspears were a preexisting Salamanders Successor Chapter of the Firstborn and were not raised during the Ultima Founding. But when the next Space Marine Codex came put... They were an Ultima Founding.
