You get 1, 30K/40K. No series, no trilogy, no duology. Singular book. Oh easy. The Lords of Silence. I own all of the current physical formats, and have the epub on my phone. I seem to read it quarterly, especially during holiday time off. I have grown fond of the little inconsistencies that underpin the chaotic nature of the story. And whenever I get to it during a read through, I always say out loud "Ahhh Chapter Five." The Scorpion
19 hours ago, Scribe said: The Last Remembrancer Aurelian Savage Weapons Awesome choice. Though now that I'm really thinking about it. We should make a dedicated thread for that instead of hijacking the conversation. GryphonnePromethean
This is haaaard. 1 - Genefather • An easy choice as a personal favorite. A relatively consequential book that seems to set up big moves in the setting's future while being a generally fun read. Cawl is having a great time and Bile is a great foil for him. 2 - Bad Loon Rising • An admission that I haven't looked hard enough at the fantasy side of things. A silly book about goblins which nevertheless attacks some real adult malaise. Fun and weird. 3 - Valdor, Birth of the Imperium • Set so far back that it's somehow both a good starting point and in the deep lore. A short-but-sweet glimpse at the big mysteries. 4 - Era of Ruin • If I thought harder I might choose a different one but the list would be incomplete without a short story collection. There are three or four real winners here, with the Scars story being a particular standout. 5 - Echoes of Eternity • I think of this as being the strongest book of the Heresy. A perfect little treat at the end before the mythology kicks in. 6 - The End and The Death 1 • I find myself going back to listen to Malcador's soliloquy every six weeks or so. It's just a beautiful slab of writing and I'd miss it on the island. 7 - Fire Caste • a strong, cinematic narrative with pretty dense character work. I'm still at the start of the Coil, but I can see myself wanting to loop it. 8 - Master of Mankind • a killer book in its own right, but I'd also say that it's part of a sequence with Genefather and Echoes of Eternity and that arc is my favorite in the setting. 9- The Wicked and The Damned • A really underrated portmanteau novel from the Horror line. IMO it could have used a more involved ending but the three leads are really genuinely chewy characters and compellingly terrible people. 10 - Perturabo, Hammer of Olympia • It was hard not to choose the Ferrus or Lorgar books but the end is just such a crazy emotional peak that there can be no other. Perty might be the most interesting character in the setting. Taliesin, Ammonius, 1ncarnadine and 1 other 4 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387162-black-library-top-10/page/2/#findComment-6145309 Share on other sites

It wasn't my favorite horror novel, but it did stick with me pretty well. Krelious
It would probably be all ADB stuff with Warhawk thrown in there because to me Chris Wraigth is the only one who comes close, I mean you go with ADB you got the Night Lords Trilogy, Black Legion novels, Spear of the Emperor, First Heretic, Betrayer, Echoes of Eternity all in legendary GOAT status and the only ADB novel I havent read yet is Armageddon because if I did that then id be out of ADB novels. I mean imagine the feeling, the craving, the lust I'd have if I finished that last book I dont know what I'd do, I'd probably get on a plane to Ireland and start looking for the guy. We want Black Legion 3 we needs it.
