Inquisitor_Lensoven
First of all which codex should it go in? Guard or agents of the imperium? Or both, but with differences between the two? would a single infantry unit be good enough or should there be a few units under the title? basic rag tag infantry, heavy weapons team, light improvised vehicle/transport? what kind of options would you like to see? basic infantry-10-20 lasguns, 1 Marshall per 10 heavy weapons team- lasguns, heavy options to include heavy stubber, improvised heavy flamer (hazardous), field artillery (some sort of museum quality artillery piece, like a cannon, a grapeshot type profile) transport- something like a dump truck with a pintle mounted heavy weapon. general stats M6” T3 W1 LD 10+ Sv6+ BS5+ WS5+ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387163-theoretical-imperial-militia-units/ Share on other sites
casb1965
It would fit better in the Agents codex to represent a Planetary Defence Force called in to the Inquisition's service. What I'd prefer however is Inquisitorial Stormtroopers brought back in to the codex with a stat line similar to Kasrkin. I think the guard codex is also meant to represent PDFs which are often considered lower quality troops than formal guard units, so it would be weird for an inquisitor to specifically second them into their service Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387163-theoretical-imperial-militia-units/#findComment-6144546 Share on other sites
casb1965
My understanding is PDFs fall outside of the AM structure and are run by the Planet's Governor. They then tithe in to the AM. PDFs would be more like the old Penal regiments from way back. kabaakaba
It's heavily depend on which a planet this PDF at service are. If it's ork infected. Or was at war in relatively close past it could be on par with IG regiments. W.A.Rorie
Frateris Militia used to be a thing in a few editions but have been long gone and were a Sister of Battle unit so they would be Adeptus Ministorum/ Ordo Hereticus unit. Militia unit size was 10-20 models armed with ccw and pistols stats were human with no armor. Redemptionist replaced them for a 2 editions. Same stat lines no armor but had mob weapon (same as being armed with ccw and pistol) nay also gained specials, Eviscerators and one shot exterminators (one shot hand flamers for the entire unit). I think the squad size was 10-30. militia should not have standard imperial gear, it would not be “issued” to them. Military would be bringing their own weapons so pistols shotguns, blades, pitchforks, home made flamers. Anything that requires a high level of maintenance or skills probably not available. Genestealer Cult Neophyte Hybrids and Chaos Cultist is where I would start looking at stat lines and weapons Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387163-theoretical-imperial-militia-units/#findComment-6144618 Share on other sites
