It's looking like a red Grotmas, boyz.

This year’s calendar is shaking up the formula by stuffing a wide selection of different treats behind each door of the Red Gobbo’s workshop, from new game rules and painting guides to unreleased Warhammer fiction and – as always – a special reveal on Grotmas Day. There’s no knowing quite what you’ll get, so make sure to check in with Da Red Gobbo each day.

There’s less than a week until the first box opens on Monday 1st December, and a little snotling told us that it has something to do with a newly promoted Captain everyone’s been talking about lately. Can’t imagine who that would be.

Well, there have been two, but I guess even WarCom can't be bothered to pretend that anyone's talking about Ferren.

Look on the bright side. The "Year of Chaos" ends with more Ultramarines.

I'm tired boss..

The year of Chaos was in 2024 when they released a new Chaos god for AoS
Followed by GW's article in June poking fun at the fanbase for carrying that on for an additional 12 months that saw a mountain of chaos releases

They set the bar so high last year, so for the initial teaser to be "We're starting with Ultramarines and maybe some days it'll be painting guides" its not filling me with confidence....

I really hate to tell y'all this, but Ultramarines are actually popular and there's going to be a LOT of people looking forward to rules for them.

Which mountain of releases was this?

How it started: "This year is the year of Chaos, as evidenced by the Great Horned Rat joining the big leagues of the pantheon of Chaos Gods in Warhammer Age of Sigmar, finally rubbing shoulders with Khorne, Tzeentch, Slaanesh and Nurgle as a fully-fledged Ruinous Power."

How it ended:

Christmas day last year was 40k Fulgrim. Any ideas or suggestions for this year?...

The rumoured plastic Warhound maybe?

Or the equally rumoured AoS Cogfort, though the tone of the article did imply it'd be a 40k thing I think.

I think it was just speculation on Valrak's part rather than proper rumour (but I like it) so I'll say we'll get a reveal of a new plastic Yarrick as a Christmas miracle (since GW said he'd died).

I mean, if its 40k releated, it'll be linked into whatever they're doing ahead of the 11th edition drop.

Huron, Yriel, Trazyn, might be a tad too early for Yarrick but he'd definitely be a big hitter to close the year on a high note, and Fulgrim didn't hit shelves until April/May either.

If it's AoS it could be one of the Ogre characters to herald the rest of the big lads, as it'd seem they're next on the menu for the factions teased.

It could be something on the wilder side like the plastic Warhound that's already been mentioned, but methinks an anticipated/beloved character and/or something that heralds more to come, as opposed to one big standalone model, is more likely. Just my two cents.

And I assume that even though there's no mention of it in the article, come the new year they'll also do some teases, probably in the form of silhouettes, as usual.

The ogres are probably not next, the insider rumor source (boole) said more towards late 2026.. the newer rumorsource with the pictures (including ogres) isnt an insider, their source was a ( now caught ) low-ladder contractor, to me at least all their info seemingly came from a single book, either the CoS battletome or an end of edition campaign book heavily featuring them/the cogforts etc. ( reason : CoS had all kind of rule details, other things had just visual descriptions and uncertainities.) the reason it had images of so much unreleased things is simply because, whats at outside contractors now is probably a Q4 2026 release at its earliest, meaning all releases in between do feature in those studio war pictures.

It did include the fyreslayers, but the combined dwarf battletome will be the last ( multiple sources ) implying fyreslayers are released earlier (also implied by GW themselves ) and with that I bring my AoS related rant on topic :

I think like the grotmas calendar we get two boxsets revealed with new miniatures that do not get an armybook and are not featured in a campaign, yes, just a boxset of miniatures  : Fyreslayers ( themed around the warcry warband ) for AoS and Eldar corsairs ( themed around the Killteam corsairs ) for 40k. ( a very wishful theory, yes, but based on some thin sliver of evidence beyond rumors : Warcry related Fyreslayers are next on GWs coming soon RE image on one side and the now out of rotation KT corsairs are the only ones who havent gotten their 40k rebox yet.)

@ZeroWolf surely that release is for the first weekend in April 2026?

reveal then, otherwise the joke is lost ;)

Would be hilarious if all this talk of yarrick is actually Zeboss "old bale-eye" Yorruk  a new ork warboss that is yarricks reincarnation and exact likeliness... or so he ( and the orks ) think.

Now that would be an April 1 reveal
