Hopefully it's not a "How to paint Legions Imperialis" article.

I already can paint multiple legions by priming them black.

::Spray::

Look! Now they're Raven Guard, Iron Hands or Dark Angels!

Just add white, silver and red accordingly

Continuing the trend of "Normal WarComm article with a Christmas banner", we have a Painting Guide for the Loyalist Legions of the Horus Heresy.

The teaser for tomorrow's article is as follows:

Quote

Tomorrow on the Grotmas Calendar, we’ve got something spooky in store…

My assumption is that it's probably an AoS Grand Alliance: Death faction related article (Nighthaunt, Flesh Eater Courts, Soulblight Gravelords or Ossiarch Bonereapers).

That should have been an article released June 2022....for Horus Heresy 2.0

... which they did. In fact, they went a step further and provided video tutorials at the time.

This article is just a rough equivalent to FWs original painting tutorial from the early 2010s. Which was just as descriptive.

I note that it's just the Loyalist painting guide, Are we going to get the Traitor one next week?

Presumably, along with more parts of whatever that microfiction on day 1 was.

If tomorrow is new Regiments of Reknown for AoS or anything similar, then we can be fairly confident which game is getting the favouritism this year.

There's a pretty decent number of people who want to follow 'Eavy Metal recipes, to the extent there's a whole website ('Eavy Archive) and painters (like Infernal Brush) dedicated to it.

I know on B&C we generally skew towards slightly more grimdark/weathered/tabletop paint jobs, but there will be a fair few people for whom getting the official recipes (and not the slimmed down back-of-the-box ones) is a Christmas pressie.

trouble is, the recipes provided are in fact, incorrect.

We know the deep recesses on blood angel armour is not done with black, its done with a mix of khorne red and incubi darkness. This is true for 40k and 30k blood angels.

Nah, it's the perfect time for those who are only just now getting around to opening and painting their June FOMO purchase

The Space Wolves mini doesn't seem to have the black highlighted with administratum grey either (or around the eyes, which is odd).

They shouldn't bother, especially after how good last year was, if this is it.

They really sabotaged themselves for the years to come by the absolute banger that was Grotmas 2024

Yeah everyone mad at the free content is definitely feeling like "Kid who got a N64 last year mad that this year there isn't a PlayStation under the tree" vibes.

"Kid who got a N64 last year mad that the large box under the tree this year turned out to be a crate full of Socks" would be more accurate.

We're getting something.

It's just not something good.

I think the issue is that 2 out of the 3 days feel like they could have been regular warcom articles, nothing particularly special about them (exception being HoH rules). The short story didn't even feature Titus (and its very short), and the paint guides are nothing new, or indepth.

Now, don't go besmirching the good name of socks. Socks are a great gift and I liked them even when I was growing up as that's when I got new socks every year to replace the old holey ones. Hopefully we'll get some 40k rules Thursday or Friday this week, but if not no big deal as whatever they post will be free.
