Ioldanach
Great stuff. I'm working on my entries (hopefully I'll get some pictures up soon) but my limited painting skills make this nothing more than a labor of love for me. That and I'm really overdue for my Legio mini me. Where is that shield bit from @Spazmolytic? Trokair
This post was recognized by Brother Tyler! Trokair was awarded the badge 'Legio Event - Participant' And the three are finished. I am not good with freehands and transfers, so I just left the shoulder pads as single colours. I had to redo the primaries ornage shoulder pad as the original got blotchy (contrast paint not settling well, unlike the contrast yellow on the scout) so it is a bit duller then I intended as the only other orange I had to hand was Jokaero (which I do like, but it is a tad earthy for what I wanted). I also failed on the poweraxe original attempt, so had do go over it with leadbelcher and did not notice too late that it ended a bit lumpy (turns out the pot is dying, don’t paint when you are tiered, it leads to silly mistakes. Anyway, those issues aside I am happy with the rest and declare these done. Brother Argent
So... in true Brother Argent style, its the last few days of this and I have finally decided to attempt to make a start. @Brother Tyler So considering making my Legio Persona as part of this at long last (or possibly him at three points). Issue with that is that he was always the "unofficial Reclusiarch of the Liber". I know we are not to make Reclusiarchs as Legio Mini Me's as they are higher ranked. I assume just a lower ranked Chaplain is fine? Thinking of making one from the Dark Imperium Gravis Captain. If not all good as, with my return to the hobby, maybe a reinvention of my Mini me is in order as well. Chaplain Raeven
This post was recognized by Brother Tyler! Chaplain Raeven was awarded the badge 'Legio Event - Participant' There some great models in here, the Legio recieved a fine amount of new marines. I managed to finish up as well, even though it took way too long. I'm a technical painter with little actual talent, so it takes me an insane amount of time to get a paintjob to a satisfactory result. My wife was none too happy about the time I spend on these three little plastic dudes, but we got there at the end! So here are my contributions to the Legio: Veteran Squad Athos is comprised of Veterans from various other parent Chapters, seconded to the Great Company of the Justice of the Emperor. In the tradition of the Legio, veterans are allowed to paint their greave with heraldry of their parent chapter. Since the squad is solely comprised of veterans, each member has some kind of embellishment on his greave. Veteran sergeant Athos leads his squad of close combat specialists. Hailing from the Ultramarines, his greave is decorated in the style of Ultramar. As a reward for his achievements, he is allowed to wear an aiguillette in his former Chapter's colours. Veteran Skander from the Space Wolves used to be a Blood Claw. He became the sole survivor of an encounter with a Bloodthirster during the Siege of Fenris. He managed to slay the daemon in the end, which resulted in his ascension to the Wolf Guard. Contrary to the usual exotic attire of the Wolves, Skander only visibly wears an Aquila made from bone of a Fenrisian Kraken. He proudly displays his former heraldry on his greave though. Veteran Dassian of the Imperial Fists is a specialist of siege, like the rest of his Chapter. His methods aren't subtle though, there are few fortifications that can withstand a bandolier of grenades. It isn't uncommon for Dassian to spend more grenades than bolts during a mission. His aim with thrown objects is as accurate as his skills with his bolter. And a group shot with my previous Mini-me mini. This does mean I'm just one marine short for an actual valid squad... Alby the Slayer
This post was recognized by Brother Tyler! Alby the Slayer was awarded the badge 'Legio Event - Participant' What an amazing paint job @Chaplain Raeven. These are great. So I finished my project too. These three veteran of the Bolter+Chainsword Legio are from the Chapter Justice of the Emperor Great Company and they come from the Blood Angel, Crimson Fist and Wolfspear Chapter. The mini-me miniature is the Wolfspear one. He is simply called "The Slayer" (go figure...) and is the sarge of the group leading the others through these ruins, which are deep, deep below Terra soil, in a forgotten industrial city, They are hunting for something or someone and maybe they are haunted themselves... Some photos so I use spoilers to not create a too long post. Enjoy! Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler As usual sorry for the quality of my pictures. Rusted Boltgun
This post was recognized by Brother Tyler! Rusted Boltgun was awarded the badge 'Legio Event - Participant' The Fists of Light are a relatively young Chapter and some of their history is documented in the FoL Iron Gauntlet 2024 It has been suggested that they could take support and guidance from fellow Astartes and so a delegation has been formed for submission to the Legio Bolter and Chainsword. All are veterans of the Deliverance of Cascadia, denoted by the white cross on red kneepad. Brother Benedictus is the Prospectus, seconded to The Light of The Emperor. He will return to the FoL and impart the wisdom hained through interaction with the Legio B&C members. He carries the Keys of Cascadia token, a reflection of his service during the FoL's arrival on Cantab IV. Permanently gifted to the Legio are brothers Tolfein (Blood of The Emperor) and Angorash (Justice of the Emperor). {pict limits mean they cannot be individually posted here} A squad of five Astartes is being sent to serve the Legio, the three described plus brothers Kanleigh and Magrupp. The full squad are detailed here. Thanks for putting this challenge together @Brother Tyler. It has been great fun to put together and I've gained a game-legal squad for my FoL that I needed. The other submissions are truly fantastic and I am honoured to be in their company. Brother Argent
So... I finally got things assembled and have started on the painting stage. But here are the before images. They are supposed to be my Legio mini-me at three stages of his career. Hopefully I'll get things painted in time... I tried sculpting tabards (didn't go so well) and fur (went alright). Brother Christopher
This post was recognized by Brother Tyler! Brother Christopher was awarded the badge 'Legio Event - Participant' With a day to spare, I've managed to finish, base and photograph my Legio Marines. Painting these was a blast. The models themselves turned out to be more detailed and exotic than I though, but the gamechanger was trying something new out when it comes to technique/style. My only regret is that I haven't thought in advance about choosing models with more plain shoulder pads to display the Legion emblem better; however, please note that I've sprinkled little emblems on the models here and there! And more photos of the individual models and close-ups on some of the detail: Spoiler And for formality's sake, here's a before pic: Spoiler W.A.Rorie, Heraclite, Rusted Boltgun and 9 others 3 9 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387187-legio-roll-of-honour/page/2/#findComment-6154392 Share on other sites
Ioldanach
It is with a great deal of regret that I must admit that I will be unable to finish all three models for a complete submission by the deadline. When I finish them, I will post them here and in a blog. I've really enjoyed seeing everyone else's submissions, however. Best of luck to all! Brother Argent
Well.... I am getting there. Not sure it will be on time. I am so very close but getting to a point where real life stuff might need to take over.... Going to take a short break to do a couple of things and get back to it. Its not the end of January here yet (still have eight hours) but working from the dead line Brother Tyler set I think its just passed it... Brother Argent
This post was recognized by Brother Tyler! Brother Argent was awarded the badge 'Legio Event - Participant' Excuse the double post but finished. Not all happy, particulary with how the final version looks (in Gravis armour). Will get fluff up later but for now here's photo proof I have completed Brother Argent Mini Me in three phases of his career; When he first came to the Legio, later after being accep[ted to the Chaplaincy (The Typo War Era in the Liber) and finally my new return after a year long hiatus, now as Primaris... Brother Christopher
@Brother Argent It's crazy that you've managed to finish these in time. Chaplain Raeven
This post was recognized by Brother Tyler! Chaplain Raeven was awarded the badge 'Legio Honour Shield' Hot damn, those are great terminators, the details are insane! And Brother Argent managed to paint three models great in the time it takes for primer to dry As an extra for the event, I've managed to paint up an Honour shield for my last year's mini-me lad. My usage of canvas is rare, but it's pretty nice to try out some freeehand. Brother Argent
Its all about the Zeal. That why my mini me is a Chaplain... I promise they look better in RL. But don't they always. Maybe I'll get better photos up when I get fluff and honour shield sorted. Was going to last night but ended up on a call out. Brother Tyler
Great work, everyone! The Legio is proud to have these warriors within its ranks. If my reading comprehension and math skills haven't diminished too much, it looks like we have the following entrants, in alphabetical order (links take you to their submission posts): Alby the Slayer Brother Argent Brother Christopher Chaplain Raeven Heraclite Infernal Lord_Ikka Rusted Boltgun Spazmolytic Trokair If I missed anyone, please let me know ASAP. Each of these members has been rewarded with a badge for participating. Those members who submitted sufficient information have also been rewarded with the Legio Mini Me badge (if they haven't earned it previously), and one member has also been rewarded with the Legio Honour Shield badge . Multiple entrants haven't yet earned the Legio Mini Me badge and could do so simply by posting a reply here with an image of their Legio mini me model and the necessary information. The members of the staff will now take a week to narrow the field down to five finalist submissions. Once we've done that, the members will vote for the grand prize winner, who will receive a copy of Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Onslaught and the magnetized gold seal shown below. The other four finalists will each receive a magnetized silver seal and a hook and loop Bolter & Chainsword patch shown below. Alby the Slayer
This post was recognized by Brother Tyler! Alby the Slayer was awarded the badge 'Legio Mini Me' This is my entrance for the Mini Me badge. The miniature I choose is a Wolfspear Imperial Space Marine, now Veteran Sergeant of the Legio Bolter and Chainsword, Chapter Justice of the Emperor, Great Company. As a Primaris marine of the Unumbered Sons, he was part of the Guardians of the Pit of Raukos, before becoming a Wolfspear. His real name is not known but after his indoctrination in the Chapter he was named "The Slayer". Later, in their ranks, he fought against chaos hordes of cultists in a campaign to repel the Chaos presence in the Imperium Nihilus. He was chosen for a possible candidate to the Legio by [redacted]. He is since then a member of the Bolter and Chainsword Legio. He doesn't speak often and he prefers to operate with a few fellow brothers in small squads. Hunting in the shadows with minimum noise, he is a specialist of ambushes but in the fray he also uses his greater heavy chainsword to butcher his enemies. For his particular traits he is now on a mission on Terra searching for [redacted], deep below the surface, with two other Legio brothers.
