Returning from their previous exclusivity (they were for events iirc?), the Kroot Carnivore and Steel Rook are in Warhammer stores from Boxing Day, or Saturday 10th online.

It's an okay miniature but I do wish they would stop doing one basic infantry model as an exclusive at above character price. If you're going to do an exclusive miniature then do a character or a diorama rather than a small troop model in an alternate pose. It just seems like they designed it for something else which was abandoned and thought 'lets call it an exclusive and sell them for £30 each because limited edition'.

I find myself in agreement.

I like the model but do I like it enough to pay for it, for the sake of a random trooper?

Whereas if it had been a bit fancier as a Shaper, by all means.

Already managed to get one myself, and it's not a bad miniature at all, but it is one of those that is basically just a generic infantry in a slightly different pose. Quite a few "special" edition miniatures these days seem to have taking an existing model, and giving it a slight alteration that doesn't overly stand out. The Genestealer Cult one from this year for example was another.

The Steel Rook here is more the sort of thing that I much prefer them to be, something that's a clearly new and unique design.

I think this is the way they've chosen to go with these as too many people complained because they couldn't get the other unique models. At least this way if someone misses out, its no big loss.
