darkhorse0607
Quote the Elysian troops of the Astra Militarum That is the most interesting part for me. Another Black Templars novel (who are giving the Ultramarines a run for their money in terms of novel count over the last few years) is fine, but Elysians? wecanhaveallthree
Quote unthinkable alliance... distasteful ally... what he is willing to forsake... Does Helbrecht not know that the Kin have acted for the Imperium as mercenaries since forever? They do a buncha trade? They're abhumans at worst? Bit of a beat-up, innit? They do a buncha trade? They're abhumans at worst? Bit of a beat-up, innit? It is the Black Templars we're talking about. It may have been unthinkable for them to sink to the level of consorting with even abhumans (the scene where they slaughter the Longshanks who'd been protecting an Arbitrator from The Beast series comes to mind), even if many other parts of the Imperium have a history of working with them. I'm sure if asked, the Helbrecht and most, if not all other BTs would have historically argued that those who made such deals should be thrown on a pyre for heresy. If the Votann don't end up betrayed by the end, I'll be surprised. cheywood
Didn’t really like The Remnant Blade, I put it down halfway through as it felt a little too unintentionally silly, but Elysians and Kin have me intrigued. darkhorse0607 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387216-upcoming-bl-stuff-2026/page/31/#findComment-6183142 Share on other sites

I do like the crusading part of these so much more than another vague vision. On another note: Please give me a solid Imperial Fist novel. Hadn't had one since the "Fist of the Imperium", which was kinda meh Edited August 19 by Tolmeus Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387216-upcoming-bl-stuff-2026/page/31/#findComment-6183156 Share on other sites

Mainly agree with you. I didn't find Helbrecht bad per se, there's some really good scenes, like Helbrecht getting admonished by Guilliman. But The plot was quite dull and uninspiring. I had the same issue with Krakenblood as well. There's lots of Marc's writing I really enjoy, like 'Grim Repast'. Really hoping he sticks the landing on the Huron book Roomsky, Adeptekon and Preliminary Bombardment 3 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387216-upcoming-bl-stuff-2026/page/31/#findComment-6183245 Share on other sites

That one really was wrong, with how it features a Legion of Imperial Fists (only one of which is clearly visible on the novel cover, the rest is on the back / the full art) and... they're up against a Great Unclean One, also on the backside. Where's the flight? Where's the Fly Guy? I'm not sure what Garro is looking at, might be the Choral City or the Somnum Citadel on Luna, but either way, it evokes him as a bystander, not in an action scene but as a witness. The Aquila on his chest is framed to be looking slightly towards the scene in the backdrop, implying that the Imperium sees it now. The clenched fist shows resolve while his expression shows regret and conflict without him having to hold a Boltgun. It's also more focused on the character Garro, who has been absent from the old cover while being very prominent on later covers. The back of the art has the other Death Guard and a navy bloke look at a star map projection, and half at Garro, who has turned his back on them and towards the massacre. So he's actually aboard the Eisenstein here. They feel out of sorts, in shock, even just from their stances. One MAJOR criticism I have of the new covers is that they DROPPED THE SUBTITLES. Horus Rising: The seeds of heresy are sown False Gods: The heresy takes root Galaxy in Flames: The heresy revealed The Flight of the Eisenstein: The heresy unfolds Fulgrim: Visions of Treachery The First Heretic: Fall to Chaos Prospero Burns: The Wolves unleashed Know No Fear: The battle of Calth Betrayer: Blood for the Blood God Praetorian of Dorn: Alpha to omega The Master of Mankind: War in the webway Slaves to Darkness: Chaos undivided Those bylines actually got better as the series progressed, and they generally give you a decent idea of what it's going to be about. Dropping them for the 12 book redux is lazy. Termalatur_Timmy
Where do you guys check out the newest Black Library releases? I used to go to the New & Exclusive section of blacklibrary.com, but now that is gone. The same section of warhammer.com doesn't go far enough back for me, and warhammer-community is filled with stuff that hasn't yet released or the info is buried in articles that are focusing on something entirely different. I'd just like a list of newest to oldest books already released from black library. darkhorse0607
The story is pretty decent. The Marines are written in a more tactical way than more modern stuff depicts them (i.e. setting ammo drop points along their exfil route) kind of of like how Kloster writes his. If you like that kind of thing and background about more obscure chapters (the KT leader is from the Death Spectres so you get a look at that) then I would say its worth a read Also its not as though we are drowning in Deathwatch related novels so its something Not sure about paying the high cost of an LE, but read it if you get the chance. Sounds like my kind of book. I want to scream inside every time I have to sit through the minutae of a scene where we learn about the pulse rate of the character, the sweat dripping from his or her brow, and the mist coming off their breath in the wind. lansalt
I tried to get the Deathwatch LE this morning but it was already sold out when the SKU appeared in GW's website, but I see tons of ebay listings of it with a huge markup. The same happened a few weeks ago with the Rynn's World novel. You might want to check out Gary Kloster's stuff then. I've read Lazarus: Enmity's Edge which has some cool moments (like when the Dark Angels are engaged by cultists in a building, they use their plasma guns to melt the roof and force them out rather than charging it) and the short story Patience Kills about the Crimson Fists. They're decent enough stories and scratch the more tactical itch if you have it Adeptekon 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387216-upcoming-bl-stuff-2026/page/31/#findComment-6183534 Share on other sites
