No, now they just put the disclaimer 'This will be your first chance to buy the hardback edition, which will only be available while stocks last, although it may return to print at a future date' which seems to have worked in taking the heat off them Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387216-upcoming-bl-stuff-2026/page/32/#findComment-6183666 Share on other sites
Roomsky
I will once again go against the grain when discussing cover art and say the Raldoron LE looks leagues better than the standard hardback art - you can't even tell if Tiny-Head Mode is enabled in the LE. Also there's just more artistry to the painting, and while "character's face" isn't terribly inspired, I like it better than "space marine stands stiffly with sword". Felix Antipodes
This week’s WH+ list has them discussing Ashes of the Imperium and, by inference, the Scouring. neOh (AV)
Well, with the release of the new Coil novel under normal 40k, it seems like Warhammer Horror is dead now. Anyway, what a great cover! One of the best this year, I'd say. Not sure about the rest tho, as it is all generic action cadian moments:( Roomsky, byrd9999 and Lord Marshal 1 1 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387216-upcoming-bl-stuff-2026/page/32/#findComment-6184490 Share on other sites

wecanhaveallthree
Quote After months stationed on a remote planet, they are finally due to depart for a new war zone. However, upon discovering they are bound for a death world, four Brine Dogs conspire to desert – a decision which sets off a spiral of tragedy and terror that will cast a long shadow, for the frozen world they’re on harbours a primal darkness. PETER FEHERVARI PRESENTS: THE THING I genuinely don't believe there's an author who would generate more 'book hype' on name alone right now than Fehervari with the exception of ADB. E: I haven't been impressed with Zimmerman's short-form work in 40K. He's got a solid pedigree in Shadowrun and Battletech, but I haven't seen it translate well to this setting (which is fair enough: genre fiction ain't the same the world over). I've wondered if it's just a case of feeling his way out and getting his feet under him, and more freedom at the novel length would let him spread his wings, and I suppose we'll find out here. Rough for a debut novel to go up against Fehervari writing the same faction, though. Edited Thursday at 03:33 PM by wecanhaveallthree it just wants to go to sleep in the cold until the edit team finds it Lord Marshal, Roomsky, Dalmyth and 1 other 3 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387216-upcoming-bl-stuff-2026/page/32/#findComment-6184496 Share on other sites

LemartesTheLost
1 hour ago, Lathe Biosas said: Promise me that you won't get mad when I ask, "Who?" In my opinion, Peter Fehervari is easily a top 3 author in the BL stable. His little corner of the 40k universe is a collection of interconnected stories dubbed “The Dark Coil”. There are two omnibuses out now titled “The Dark Coil: Damnation” & “The Dark Coil: Ascension” and both are excellent. What’s great about The Coil is that there is not one order you must read it in. You can start anywhere and end up anywhere. Two people that read it in different orders might come away having made different connections within the stories/ different theories as to what certain characters’ motives are/ what’s actually happening. I would argue Fehervari writes 40k (especially Chaos) in its truest sense. If you want your skin to crawl and a puzzle to try and put together, give it a read! cheywood
I know we’ve had a lot of negativity around BL the past couple years, and from a consumer standpoint I think that’s totally warranted, but wow are they killing it in terms of content this year. It’s up there with the best of the 2010s in my opinion. Abnett, Rath, Van Nguyen and now Fehervari all dropping novels is a pretty crazy turn of events. The pace of releases has been very nice over the past 9-12 months. I can hardly keep up with just the stuff that actually interests me! Sure, there’s been a lot of reprints as well, but sometimes I think it’s easy to forget that not everyone has been in the hobby for the last 5-10+ years and those folks have never had the chance to own any of the really hyped novels at MSRP. If BL would release two Scouring novels within 6 months of each other here soon, we might actually return to something resembling the BL craze of the SoT era. grailkeeper
I loved fire caste. I don't really like fever dream/waking nightmare type bits in books generally. Fehervari has a lot of them. Hopefully this book doesn't go that way. I was recently in Hungary and saw a lot of signs for people called Fehervari so I take full credit for bringing this about in thr universe. Felix Antipodes
The Fehervari announcement is obviously the big one, but I am also excited for the one from Swan. I’ve been reading his stuff long before he joined BL and will be looking forward to what he does with the extra room a novel provides. The same can be said about Zimmerman, who’s short fiction hasn’t impressed me much so far. Also note that WarCom has updated the release to say the Raldoran LE release has been delayed to Wed 2 Sep. The standard edition HB will still be up on Saturday.
