New Chaos Models

Beside the Huron and the Red Corsair stuff that is rumoured to be coming, apparently more models are coming for Chaos.

 

• New Defiler (Has head options for Thousand Sons, Emperors Children etc)
• New Mutilators

 

Also it seems GW are doing more repacked Chaos boxsets like Thousand Sons, Emperors Children, Iron Warriors with their new Upgrades etc.

 

Hopefully even more stuff :)

Excellent news! Can't wait for Huron and the bikers! The other kits will be nice, but Huron and bikers I think are the ones that need updates the most.

I'm pretty tempted for a new Defiler, the idea is awesome but the model just hasn't aged well.

A new defiler has been the number one item on my wishlist for a few years now. I'll be picking one up straight away. Better get started on that back log I promised I'd finish before buying new models

I'm conflicted about new Mutilators because Chaos doesn't NEED more melee options. They need more range options.

If you were to ask me now, I'd sway heavily towards Huron being the Christmas reveal because I can't see GW resisting a play on red as a Christmas colour, and the red corsairs. Of course this does open the door to the idea that if not huron himself, it'll be the other red corsair kit with a tease of Huron.

 

*says all that, then watches as Huron is just a random Monday model reveal in the new year*

Phenomenal news, both because the Defiler is iconic and badly needs a new kit, and because the EC roster can barely cover a piece of toast so any additions will be very much appreciated. Legion/god specific bits in the kit would be a great move.

Completely agree. When I make 3-4 different lists for different detachments with my EC they are anywhere from 80-100% identical. The range is criminally small. Defiler is a great addition and perhaps the mutilators. (Side note-I'd love to see another add on of some form of cultists.)

Like many I remember building a defiler back around 2002-2004(?).

 

Also I'm really enjoying playing EC this edition and having defilers within the roster would be great. I don't mind running karnivores but I'd prefer to keep it to 'just' EC stuff.

Bit weird that they'd be releasing Huron, a Red Corsairs command squad and a Red corsairs elite unit and then double down on CSM with an Iron Warriors themed release that includes a new Defiler, new Mutilators, and the Iron Warriors upgrade sprue, all of this before 11th, but apparently save the Bikers for 11th.

 

I'm all for it though, gimme all of that no matter how weirdly staggered their releases are.

Y'know, something that may add credibility to this is that semi-recent change to the Tourney Base Size rules which requires the Defiler to be on it's base (specifically the one it doesn't actually come with).

 

If there's a new Defiler on the way, that would explain the tourney rules requiring you to use the base it presumably will come with.

It almost certainly has to because base CSM have access

I am hoping this is a sign they're gonna update/replace the Helbrute with something that's either less... fleshy or has options to tone down the fleshiness

How would you feel about them keeping the hellbrute, but just having other dreadnought options? Never understood why Marines can have a variety of dreadnought types, but Chaos only get the one. I really love the hellbrute model but I think Chaos having access to a more 'demonic' Leviathan & Contemptor would suit them perfectly.

A new huron and Defiler are both well overdue. 

 

If the Defiler includes head options for Emperor's Children then it must be being added to their codex at some point. One can hope GW will look to expand EC to being a more rounded gaction in unit choice. 

 

This may be clutching at straws but maybe it means the Predator will come to EC too. I don't see why EC players shouldn't have tanks.

It was amazing, so many conversions. It was super common to see kitbashes and numerous defilers smashed together to make scorpions. I loved it so much I 3d designed and printed conversion bits to make it look Tzeentchy for my t.sons.

TBH, I've been hoping for a Psychic/Rubric Dreadnought for TSons, but for generic CSM (and options for EC, WE and DG) I feel a Contemptor Dread chassis would be a nice touch for a less mutated and more "Traitor" Dreadnought.

Dunno what the upgrade kits entail, but the Cult legions definitely need better access to central Chaos Space Marine stuff. I see no reason why DG, WE, TS, EC can't take things like Havocs, Raptors, or even Legionaries. Space Wolves have two flavours of unique battleline infantry but they can still build & deploy all the flavors of Intercessor.
