I have seen this idea on other forums and groups to prevent spamming. New members have a cool-down period after joining where they either have to wait for several days or have to comment a certain number of times before they're allowed to post a new topic.

The reason I bring it up is:

https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387264-warhammer-40k-magazine-anyone-seen-this/

This new member, in his first ever post, opens a new topic with a "not link" (he directs members how to search for said website, even though posting an actual link would be as easy as copy and paste) to a brand new site that appears to be an AI summary of WarCom. The whole thing seems like astroturfing. Maybe this guy is legit and wanted to share, but the optics are poor. Given the nature of the post, I question whether the poster is even human.

We already have such a system in place. New members are placed in the + FRATER NOVUS + group. While in this group, they are limited in the types of content that they can submit, and all content they submit must be reviewed and approved by a staff member before it will be visible to other members. This has allowed us to identify a number of spammers/spambots/bad actors quickly. Once these new members have passed muster, they are moved into the + FRATER DOMUS + group. You can see the discussion in which we developed the + FRATER NOVUS + group here.

In the case you that cite, yes, the optics are suspect, but it might be legitimate information. Had there been a link in that post, we would have checked the link out before approving the post. Since there isn't a link, there is minimal risk to other members - it is up to individual members to decide whether or not they want to research the magazine that the new member describes. If it later turns out that this is inappropriate material or some sort of scam, we can deal with the member appropriately. It might simply be that this is a new member who is excited to pass some information on to the rest of the community (or it might be a marketing ploy).

I was pretty sure there were some guardrails in place, so that particular post surprised me. In any event, I have a sneaking suspicion we have seen the first and last of "Daniel Koren". (Probably not the Israeli musician, comedian and director of the same name.)
