Brother Raul
Hail Brothers and Sisters, About to commit to the magnetised bases and was after some advice please. Have had a look into types of magnets and basically measured the gap between the top underside of the base and the table but would appreciate yoir experience of you've done it already. Thanks, BR. Firedrake Cordova
I've not magnetised my bases, but I'd add a couple of considerations: don't forget glue takes up some space, and you can get a narrower magnet and pack the gap with Milliput if the magnet needs to be closer to the table/storage box. Grotsmasha
One of the easiest way to eliminate the gap, is to add a blob of Greenstuff to the base, then push the magnet into place, then push the base onto a flat surface, this ensure a good contact between the magnets. Alternatively, The Magnet Baron is a good alternative. They supply kits that come with bases with a slot on the underside for a magnet, and also the magnets to fit that slot, in a variety of base sizes. Doing yourself with GS will be a bit cheaper, buying a pre-packaged solution will be easier. LameBeard
I saw a nice Instagram post where they put the magnets on baking parchment, blob of hot glue gun glue on the magnet, then press the base down on top. So the glue does the job of both sticking and filling to make an exact fit. I haven’t actually tried it myself yet though … Brother Raul and Firedrake Cordova 1 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387266-base-magnets-advice-please-for-metal-tray-carry-case/#findComment-6147168 Share on other sites
Brother Anderson
I can't recommend Warmag enough: they do magnet sheets for Really Useful Boxes and self adhesive magnets cut to stick on the bottom of standard GW sized bases. They're a bit pricey but imho they're 100% worth it, though I recommend sticking a bit of foamed PVC to the underside of the base to give the magnet more to stick to. Madao
And I will be on the opposite side (as someone who put magnets on the first dozen of bases) - do not go all in, but try with one squad first. I really hated when minis started smashing they bases together during the play. Right now, I am gluing metal washers to bases and magnets (small ones) to the transport trays (magnetic sheets work well too) Firedrake Cordova 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387266-base-magnets-advice-please-for-metal-tray-carry-case/#findComment-6148253 Share on other sites
