So I was looking through the rewards of treason units to try and find something suitably Alpha legion without going to some of the classics and i stumbled across the SoH Chieftian squad.

Trying to get as close to apples with apples as possible with a similarly kitted out praetorian squad, the chieftain's come out slightly more expensive and with one less attack (total). The trade-off is the 5++, a +1 to wound if the character in the unit was in a challenge and a proper melee weapon.

For any SoH players, have you used this unit and how did it play in that edition.

For AL players. Has this unit ever come onto yiur radar or would you consider using it?

I used it just in 2.0,so I need to try it in 3.0.

Now they can get transports,so you can use them in every environment. In 2.0 I used them just in ZM,because they were too slow for open battlefields. A unit with a mix of power weapons/power fist and some chainaxes, with 2+(Now you don't need to pay for a artisan armor)/5++ and banestrike bolter makes a really good option for praetor and centurion type characters, making them even better than Praetorians. Just try to keep them cheap. It's quite easy spending too much points in this unit.
