Deus_Ex_Machina
As the title says. For me personally I tried to finish building/painting either my vintage or Horus Heresy Iron Hands armies. Though I didn´t reach those milestones a huge step towards that goal has been made. Furthermore I wanted to play more tabletop games compared to the years before and this will be achieved between Christmas and New Year´s Eve. sitnam, Lathe Biosas, Zoatibix and 6 others 4 1 1 3 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387295-have-you-reached-your-hobby-goals-in-2025/ Share on other sites
Valkia the Bloody
Well, I got back into the hobby after a 2 year hiatus, so there is that. I also managed to do something I wanted to do for a long time and started a small converting/ painting challenge here in the forum (doing something active vs. being passive). Pretty happy with myself that I have finished half of my planned Tyranid army already and finding some motivation to get all the unbuilt boxes out of their dusty corner. Maybe 2026 is the year I finally built and paint that knight (probably as Night Lord attached) as well as the Nightmare Kill Team box which have been collecting dust? Building and painting is doing wonders for my mental health, so it is working already and my resolution is to keep at it. Cleon
Personally also 'good progress but no' I wanted to get all the HH SA and LI stuff I owned at the start of the year painted, and get in some games with both. I'm one Leman Russ short on the SA, but haven't played any HH with it as games dried up when v3 dropped so fitting in an allied detachment of SA had less opportunities I'm also three Malcador Infernus and about 70-80% of a big box of industrial terrain short on the LI, because I underestimated how much tiny scale painting reduced my functional brain time for progress. We also only had one game session of LI because it became clear our 'first draft' armies of what we wanted to play the rules hated, so more games were put off until we had wider collections painted. bloodhound23, Dr. Clock, Valkia the Bloody and 4 others 3 4 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387295-have-you-reached-your-hobby-goals-in-2025/#findComment-6147946 Share on other sites
sitnam
I don't really set down annual goals for myself at the start of the year, I work more on a seasonal basis. Over the last few years, my Call to Arms vows have been my biggest focus annually. I'll have one of my main 40k factions chosen early on (either Necrons or Tzeentch typically), and hold off on painting any of that faction. Getting a huge chunk completed over the summer was my main goal, and I've been happy with that. I painted a huge chunk of my Lost and the Damned, including three tanks (bringing my total tank count up to 4!) I wish I spent more time painting up AoS this year. I've really fallen in love with the setting, but my time does compete with my 40k armies. Unlike 40k I don't have a forum wide painting competition to focus on for AoS, so CtA has halted my AoS progress. I hope next year I can spend enough time before and after CtA to get more fantasy in. Agramar_The_Luna_Wolf
In miniatures assembled and make units,of course. In fact, even exceeded my expectations. About painting and playing, sadly not. My eyes and my pulse never worked very well, but now it's even worse. And I live too far away from the centers of the hobby here to have regular matches. And,I must confess, some people here are quite...disappointing. But,after more than 3 decades in this,it's complicated to stop. Irongert
Yes and no, I miraculously managed to paint more than my target for the year. I had a target of one more model painted than last year and so far I have managed 25 models more. I didn't manage to stick to my goal of buying as little as possible. I kinda 'accidentally' bought an entire ToW army Other than that I managed to stick to the buy as little as possible reasonably well. All in all, there is a net decrease in amount of unpainted models in my mountain of opportunity. GSCUprising
Absolutely not! Haha! Much as I am with food, the eyes are larger than my stomach. I got a heck of a lot done, though, as I progress toward my GSC/Brood Brothers army. To be honest, I got lost in writing my blogs - it's wonderful to let yourself slip into your own world and just keep on pounding at that keyboard and the things I've shared here other user users seem to enjoy. One bugbear of mine is this bloody Night Rovfugl (read: Valkyrie) - It's two steps forward, one back, but I'll get there eventually. Lathe Biosas
As I am rebuilding my gaming collection from scratch... this year has been a little depressing. I've looked at armies I used to own and thought that I would enjoy playing them again, but the thought of redoing everything just kinda.... It just doesn't seem like fun. So my mom bought me some Kasrkin for Christmas (I'm not supposed to know this, but she's asked me how to spell "Kasrkin" about 47 times since July). I have Tempestus Aquilons and some bases and am going to combine them in the new year. But as it stands now, I've accomplished very little beyond reading rules and waffling between making some Blood Ravens Space Marines or some Black Templar Space Marines. My goals for next year will be, "make a playable army." Which (strangely enough) was the same as this year. calgar101, Dr. Clock, N1SB and 2 others 1 4 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387295-have-you-reached-your-hobby-goals-in-2025/#findComment-6148076 Share on other sites
Grotsmasha
Yes, my goal for the last few years has rarely expanded beyond the 12 Months of Hobby Challenge, a minimum of 1 model a month. This year I've completed 55 personal models (and ~20 commission models or so). Generally thse have been unplanned, whatever catches my eye from my backlog, or the Mini of the Month. In 2026, I'm going to try focusing on the myriad od GW boxed games I have. SMA: Rise of the Orks, DOW: Onslaught, I love that that have inbuilt holders for the models, so my family and I grab those more often. Norman Paperman
I don’t set annual goals, but for my second year in the hobby my goal was to paint more models and paint better than my first year. I track my hobby year from October to October, based on when I first started, and I painted 80 models this year to 67 in my first year. I also made large strides in my painting abilities. So while I wish I had painted more, on the whole it was a success! Failing my CTA vow was a bummer, but that failure spurred me on to completing a few AOS projects that I’d had on my desk. In 40K, I painted Death Guard, Thousand Sons, and a unit of Kriegers for the Killteam challenge. I also wrote three vignettes about Kriegers and posted them in the Fan Fiction forum, which was part of a life-meta goal to share more of my creative writing. My wife and I have reinforcements on the way next year, so I won’t plan to paint more than this year lol. I’ll peck away at some of the backlog I built up and just keep having fun. TheArtilleryman
Nope, nope and nope Failed to get past June on the 12MoH due to massive work stress over the summer that I just couldn’t relax my brain from. It’s been much easier in terms of brain power to sit and play PC games this autumn. I then had some trips away and in December ended up with some medical issues that resulted in minor surgery. Fortunately nothing too serious but enough to mean hobby wasn’t happening, especially as it’s all in the garage in boxes currently and there’s no space to do anything in the house either. Next year maybe I’ll get some more done, perhaps starting with the handful of Cadian infantry I got started on earlier in the year as that would mean a finished army. Not starting from scratch is always a nice motivator. We shall see … Edited December 25, 2025 by TheArtilleryman Lathe Biosas, The Praetorian of Inwit, N1SB and 5 others 1 7 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387295-have-you-reached-your-hobby-goals-in-2025/#findComment-6148118 Share on other sites

Doghouse
Not by a long shot! I have made some progress with making ten marines and getting parts for the rest of my 4th edition Witch Hunters force. To be honest I've unhooked from the 40k editions treadmill I am focusing on things that I enjoy making rather than setting goals and being bound by the limitations of 'officaldom'. It's just far less pressure and I can move at my own pace. Dr. Clock
Kinda? I'd say I'm definitely 'satisfied with performance' on hobby this year. Winning an artificer badge in CtA was definitely a highpoint and possibly 'indicator of progress', but I try to avoid making annual plans on hobby - roughly quarterly is good enough for me and keeps the pile smaller. This coming quarter is way more fantasy than 40k tbh... As soon as I get Suboden figured out ; ). I guess every time I set a goal this year I completed it, except a second vow for ongoing Jokaero challenge (which I haven't officially made yet, so doesn't quite count...?). Wishing all Frater ungouged fingertips, clean brush water, and auspicious 6s for 2026! Cheers, The Good Doctor. skylerboodie
My goals for the year were: - Q1: build my Elysian Drop Troops army - Q2: build my Death Korps of Krieg army - Q3: build my Tyranids army - Q4: build my Adeptus Mechanicus army - overall: build more minis than last year I completed the first three (though with delays), but chickened out of AM for this year as not enough time and too many bits per mini! Instead I built some simpler 2nd edition Imperial Guard (Catachans, Valhallans, Mordians, Tallarns), achieving my overall goal. No painting. Not set 2026 targets yet, not sure if my AM will stay boxed again! I definitely need to see the blog of this project. I wish you the very best of luck, I really mean it. So it's been a while (years) since I did a full count; everything is in cases or storage boxes but at one point I had close to 2000 Space Marines, mostly generic but 100 odd Space Wolves, around 200 Blood Angels, 100 Dark Angels, 100 Grey Knights, 150 Black Templars, 50 Crimson Fists. Ive sold some things off here and there, mostly vehicles but I reckon im still around the 1000 mark not including the divergent chapters. My goal this year is to complete the chapter, so will get the numbers to 1000 and all the vehicles. Even at its zenith I never had all the vehicles needed. In addition to my chapter, my BA, BT, CF, DA, GK and SW all are missing some units (mostly chapter specific) and need reinforcements and better paint jobs. I also have maybe 10 Primaris models in my entire collection. My Imperial Guard also needs attention and I sold off my Knights but regret that and also the new plastic kits... I also have most of the old FW Badab characters as friends and myself were going to do the campaign. I have the FW books and love them! I intend to make an army for each chapter involved in Badab. But yeah 2026 is focused on my own Chapter, I'd like to do a blog but last time I started i was poor in updates. Not counting Horus Heresy... or the Mechanicus/Mechanicum and Sisters of Battle i don't have. I appreciate your support brother.
