Uprising
In my recent quest of downsizing, I realize I have a bit of Admech and knights models (see below). My question is how much do the forces share choices? Do the forces mix more in HH or are they separate like they are 40k? My admech lore has never been the best, so I am wondering if my force is fluffy, and I can paint them all in the same House knight scheme (not a fan of mars red color scheme). 3 knights 30 thralls 27 thallax 9 vorax 1 thanator 1 castellax 1 magos Edited December 30, 2025 by Uprising Lathe Biosas and N1SB 1 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387302-relationship-between-admech-and-knight-houses/ Share on other sites
Lathe Biosas
If you are doing Horus Heresy you have two great Mechanicus Knight Houses that are NOT red. #1. "The Schackled Knights" of House Sidhus. Colors Orange and Black. House Sidhus of Ryza has more of the old tech suits and plasma than any other house, mainly because no one knew they existed until the Heresy. Ryza kept them a secret until needed. #2. House Taranis (aka the Knight House I used to own). Colors Blue and White. House Taranis is the OG Knight House. They don't have Throne Mechicums that instill chivalry into your brain like all the other houses did, and liked to hang out with Titan Legions and get mixed up in the Martian Civil War. Both are great non-red Mechanicus Knights who fought side by side with every other type of Mechanicus troop/Titan Legion in giant battles on Ryza and Mars respectively. Solution N1SB Posted December 29, 2025 Solution Share Posted December 29, 2025 Even in the lore of 40k, Knight Houses and the Techpriesthood are closer than the game suggests. You know how in 40k we don't really have allied detachments outside these exceptions like Inquisition or Rogue Trader forces anymore? They SHOULD be closer if the rules allowed. There's the novel Titanicus in 40k where Magos seconded to Knight Houses adopt their customs for diplomacy and pageantry and stuff. IIRC someone was trying to ingratiate themselves to a Knight Household and had to meet a Magos, and they did the Sign of the Cog, and the Techpriest politely showed them how to do it properly in a courtly manner, like a staff member at Buckingham Palace instructing someone how to bow to the King correctly. Like these Techpriests weren't just stuck in garage with the Titans, they did stuff. In 30k, the Knight Houses and the Mechanicum are even closer to that to my understanding. In Legiones Imperialis...Epic 30k...I remember my friend used the Mechanicum book to do what you're suggesting, because somehow the Mechanicum had a Force Org chart that more closely combine Knights than the other way around. He explained the details, I just didn't fully understand them, but perhaps our Legions players could fill you in. It's something to do with how Mechanicum Detachments work, which is meant to reflect the lore. Uprising
Thank you N1sB and Lathe Biosas. That was the answer I was looking for. I am in the process of picking a force for 2026 to start working on, and I appreciate the time for answering my question.
