To be fair, Guard already have command squads. 2 modern kits (Krieg/Cadian) and two old ones (Scions/Catachan). They even got the Minks Leak command squads earlier this year. I'd love to see more command squads, especially for special character retinues. nodnol88
As someone already said, the article implies plural presumed-dead characters are returning. “…across the run-in books, there will be lots of characters you’ll know. Others will be entirely new. There may be some you thought long dead…” I know it’s nitpicking semantics and it’s ambiguous enough that it may relate to one character, but who else could it be? Yarrick is almost a given; I think all the short fiction releases from Grotmas undoubtedly relate to upcoming releases, but I don’t think it hinted at any other characters presumed dead. Most of the missing but inevitable Primarchs are not presumed dead, except maybe Dorn but I can’t see him returning until after a lot more of his brothers have been released. Generally though, the leaks look promising. I like the concept of different books for different war zones. It broadens the scope and allows them to shine a spot light on different areas of the galaxy without shoehorning characters into a loosely connected story (Arks of Omen). It also allows them to do follow ups down the years that instantly gives context to the conflict it references (500 World 2, 3, 4 etc, each with a different antagonist). TheMawr
With this one having no subtitle I think its almost a given that 500 worlds will have a second book at least.. though I could see this being early 11th edition even, just to make sure the eyes aren't on blood angels for too long ;) ( it's possible I'm repeating myself as I dont always know wich typed post I posted and wich is still in limbo in a tab ) But yes I do like the different warzones approach. I like a moving narrative/evolving setting.. but I dont like an entire setting moving around a single narrative. Especially not a galactic setting. Interestingly the Maelstrom leak seems to have no indication of including the already revealed models.. and that was the least unlogical place for tau, votan and tyranids, not to mention this book again has only 2 sides .. I still dare to wager a bet on it there is at least one unaccounted for book. silverstu
Looking forward to seeing better pics of Yriel and the vyper. Other rumoured characters could be the Red Terror, as it vanished from the Nid Codex, maybe Iyanna Arienal from Iyanden? Also trying to work out where the Votann, Tau and Nid characters they showed off will fit in with all these books as they don't seem to align with any. But Hive Mind please make it not true, because otherwise the SM bias is now getting absurd. 32 minutes ago, TheMawr said: Interestingly the Maelstrom leak seems to have no indication of including the already revealed models.. and that was the least unlogical place for tau, votan and tyranids, not to mention this book again has only 2 sides .. Now would be the thing to see the other rumoured warzones and which they corresponds with. What camera exists in the world today that takes images this poor? Show me the camera lol Praise be! I sort of agree here but all but 1 item of their last preview os released and we're supposedly due 4 of these releases before 11th. Logically 500 worlds must drop in Jan and likely be the Sunday article this week, as the content is in white dwarf and out before the book is. If we follow that logic and that they dont want them back to back, we're looking at a release date of 500 worlds of 17th Jan maybe, which then means that if they want to have Huron release a month later, it has to be revealed by 17th Jan. What I'm waffling about is that GW has created a back up of big ticket 40k narrative releases that will be sat in warehouses now worldwide because all 4 need to realistically be out by end of May. We then note the first isn't out yet and they have a 3 week run up to release. This leaves little room of maneuver and leaks are more likely - they need to get on with it bluntly as their hype cycle is empty.
