wait.. we're getting high elves??

Everyone (around these parts at least) seems to be assuming the lady with the elf ears accompanying the pirate in the preview announcement video was in reference to the Eldar Corsairs. And they might be right (though I have some reservations*), but she's also carrying a Blood Bowl ball.

I can't think of any other reason for that to be there.

It seems to me that it's implying that we'll have to wait to see the Eldar Corsairs until some time after this preview, but that may just be me misinterpreting what's being said and it just means we'll have to wait until the preview. And honestly if the presence of the Iron Warriors badge means anything, I can't see them previewing or even teasing stuff for the Eye of Terror book before revealing the whole lineup for the Maelstrom book, so me misinterpreting the meaning seems more plausible.

I think we've all learned by this point that GW's language on WarCom is inconsistently applied and rarely precise, literally all that means is that they weren't showing it at the moment that article dropped, so analysing what "little longer" or "sooner than you think" (my least favourite) means is mostly pointless. They've done huge previews before and there's a lot of things to dump out before 11th drops so they could well do both next week.

I hope you like your dwarfs clean shaven, long haired, unnecessarily tall, lanky, and pointy eared.

Like I said on the other forum, unless we misinterpreted the order and it isn't Maelstrom next but Eye of Terror. So full reveal of eye of Terror and only the CSM half of Maelstrom with the huron focused coverart (to have a wholesome preview of all CSM stuff coming with the campaign.) With the full Maelstrom reveal coming later ( probably some mondays)

Apparently the white dwarf specifically said Maelstrom is next though ?

Or things get even weirder and they not fully reveal but only partly tease both campaign books.. wich would be quite weird with the timescale we're talking about. ( honestly.. if that happens next week, not at least fully revealing at least one of the upcoming books but only teasing parts of them, I'm just going to start to bet on my 4 year cycle theory and we're not in for an unusually loaded 4-5 months for 40k but rather an unusually light 16 months XD ( pending unrumored stuff) )

But yes, many ways to interpret that line, and its not suprising from warhammer community site either.

( btw, again, despite me proposing wild theories doesn't mean I think they are the most likely ;) )

Yeah the White Dwarf made it pretty cut and dried. Got out just hours before the leaks happened, funnily enough.

Though you do bring up an interesting point in that they may just get the CSM releases revealed all together instead of staggering them when there isn't a lot of reveal show real estate between now and AdeptiCon (two months is quite a while, yes, but not so long with two-week preorders plus the extra preorder announcement week). Which, if my earlier post in this thread is correct, should be where they reveal the final book and the new edition. So they gotta get Maelstrom and Eye of Terror out of the way quite expeditiously.

And/or you may also be right in that they'll reveal only the CSM half of a book (although Eye of Terror instead of Maelstrom) and play coy about the context of the Iron Warriors they just showed. I can just see them going "But where do these models fit if they aren't Red Corsairs? And who are they up against? Well I'm afraid that's a reveal for another day". But then there's the dark green jacket and Ravenwing seal in the preview announcement...

Rough timeline is that we know 500 worlds is late Jan.

We know that maelstrom is next with Red corsairs (part revealed). That likely will be going up for sale in 4 weeks or so (there's nothing else for 40k in the hopper).

If we extrapolate there's an eye of Terror book, that must therefore be late March/early April.

Valrak seems fairly adamant on an Armageddon book/release unless I've misunderstood, this is where Yarrick returns and is the cap stone. Logically this would be late April/early May.

We can safely assume that 11th is revealed May and releases late June/early July. With no 40k releases beyond maybe some MTO in the middle, pad out with the other game systems, maybe a bigger HH/Sigmar release.
