Inquisitor_Lensoven
Not interested in the HH series, but other than the blood angels series, are there any books that are at least heavily fleet focused if not all about the imperial fleet? already up to date on all the eisenhorn related books as well. wecanhaveallthree
Execution Hour and Shadow Point by Rennie (Gothic War) are stand-outs. Quote yeah but i want something that isn't 20+ years old surely there's something Battlefleet Gothic's been dead for more than a decade. Not gonna be books without a way to sell models. Quote Yeah, that's why Interceptor City was written, right? That's just one book. Quote Sure. How about Von Shard? Alright, a couple of books. Quote Fehervari in general- YOU'VE MADE YOUR POINT. Nagashsnee
Dawn of fire may have been a wet blanket of a series, but Sea of Souls from Chris Wraith was a fantastic book and is near totally focussed on the Navy, tho mostly the mission of a single ship. Great read. Craig
Currently listening to Pandorax on audiobook and the battle between the imperial and chaos fleets has been going on for a long time. I'm not even half way through the book but a sizable portion is space battle/dogfights. Who are you talking to? in response to interceptor city (currently reading it) isn’t a fleet book and has nothing to do with BFG so I’m not sure why whoever you were quoting was bringing that up Edited Wednesday at 08:02 PM by Inquisitor_Lensoven wecanhaveallthree 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387381-fleet-heavy-books/#findComment-6150526 Share on other sites

wecanhaveallthree
I always forget Relentless for some reason, despite being one of my fave 40K books. It's from that weird Liber Chaotica guy, too! Very good, highly recommend. Quote Who are you talking to? I was doing a satirical 'bit' in which I created a hypothetical person interested in reading fleet books, who responded to my two recommendations by saying 'yeah but what about anything from the last twenty years'. I did this to critique the dearth of Naval novels at large, particularly carrier-based fiction, by including the numerous Aeronautica releases over the last few years (von Shard is great, Flowers is at the upper-tier of handsomeness for the 'bald white Englishmen' STC that BL print their authors from). I apologise for any confusion. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387381-fleet-heavy-books/#findComment-6150573 Share on other sites

sitnam
It's not a novel, but the rulebook for Kill Team Into the Dark had some interesting background lore on Navy Breachers and their organization. calgar101 and Taliesin 1 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/387381-fleet-heavy-books/#findComment-6150593 Share on other sites
Nagashsnee
Ok so, this is a bit more far field but hear me out. For a chaos POV, lords of silence. While not a naval focussed book, the ship is a living key character, it has a major naval engament in it that is key to the plot and actually showcases the naval fight for Agripinaa, and accurately shows the 'roaming' nature chaos warbands take on at times, where the ship BECOMES the single most important part of the warband. It is also the best look at a nurgle ship and the positives and negatives that comes with that. While not a naval book, it is a fantastic read and one i feel any fan of BFG would enjoy. The naval fight is a fair number of pages between ship fighting and boarding and forms a lynchpin of the books plot. Again it is NOT a ship/space battle focussed book, just a book that heavily features them and is a very good read. Edit the Basilikons Astra attempt to effectivly 'snipe' the enemy flagship is worth it alone. And shows the crazy side of warhammer space battles.
